  • Can this be used whilst swimming underwater (in pools)?

No, there's a swim version that aftershokz (now shokz) makes for this purpose.

I have owned the Aftershokz Aeropex, but they broke while in my pocket, but I was really impressed with these headphones, so I bought the newer Openrun Pro.
Anyhow I did use these Aeropex headphones while I'm at work, I'm gardener/carpenter/maintenance, and I love them. They are fantastic for listening to podcasts, also for music but they do show there limitations in sound quality, they're good but not fantastic. I also ride a bike while wearing the Aeropex as they allow me to hear the traffic, but if I'm listening to a podcast in heavy traffic it becomes difficult to understand the conversation in the podcast. As these headphones don't block your hearing they are suitable in environments when you need to maintain audio contact with your surroundings. I still have to pause the headphones if someone comes up to talk to me, but unless you're in a quiet environment or up close they can't hear the sound coming out of the headphones. They are comfortable to wear for a long time, I will often wear them and forget I have them on when not in use. The battery does last 8 hours as stated, the standby time is also excellent.
I now own the Openrun Pro and I find them to be an incremental upgrade, they are slightly more comfortable, a little louder without distorting and a longer battery life but the Openrun Pro of course cost a bit more. Anyhow I highly recommend the Aeropex and Openrun Pro headphones for people that need to be able to hear their surroundings while enjoying music/podcasts.

Good review and I agree with all above. Recently acquired a pair overseas and they have been great. When it comes to cycling and running, these are best for these use cases for safety. If you can afford ~$67 increment over the bulky OpenMove posted yesterday, then I'd go these.

      • @Dcseah Hey thanks.

    • thanks for sharing your thoughts. I've been on the look out for an openrun or openrun pro, but it doesnt seem to be much difference between this and the aeropex (rebranded openrun?!).

Would you be able to comment on the microphone quality? I often use headphones for making calls. Have callers said anything different about the aeropex vs the openrun pro?

I use these daily for walking, commuting and general city life.

    The Bad:
A bus going past will overshadow the sound to some degree, you wont be able to lay down on your back and comfortable listen to them without feeling your pillow bend (the back sticks out), needs a special charging cable so plan ahead when going away overnight/weekend.

    The Good:
The city exists while I also listen to podcasts, I can hear people and cars and navigate just as good as with no headphones.
No one has ever mentioned hearing what I can, but I wouldn't trust it in an elevator with anything sensitive.
Never going to fall off your head while you exercise, its snug.
Has a pause/ resume button on the side which is very handy for when someone starts talking to you - which happens a lot because you don't look like you're wearing headphones.
I have worn countless Xiaomi Pistons, Google Buds, Bose Quiet Comfort 35s on trips and the ones where I'm walking around the city the features of Aeropex outshine the others, only time I would pick the Bose over them would be if there is a sizeable train ride included.
