  • Does anyone know if i use Gift Vouchers to purchase (from HCF) if i get a full tax receipt for whole amount please?

    • +1

Yes, gift card is only a payment method. The tax invoice amount will be after a voucher code, however.

  • Wonder if this has anything to do with the One-Netbook coming out…..

(better cpu, bigger screen, worse customer support (obviously)).

    • There is always something newer coming out.

  • i have a surface laptop 3 (15") as a company computer. It is slow, though the spec is very good (for that generation)

will this older 7+ be somehow faster as a hybrid tablet/laptop?

  • 128gb for the hard drive isnt much… I like one though.

    • +3

      User upgradable M.2 2230 :)

  • think its sold out?

    • Don't think it sold out, checked around 6.30am and it had pleanty of C&C near me.

  • OOS before other stores price match it

  • I have the 7 and love it. This is a dynamite price.

    • What's the difference between the 7 and OP?

  • +1

0630 am in WA and OOS.
Actually real glad I pulled the trigger last night.
Seems like a really decent machine for 2-3 years personal use at what I'm coming to understand was a cracking price.
Part of me is giddy at picking up a new device for my self. The last 4 laptops I bought were all gifts for others.

    • I think it's just the online stock sold out. Still seeing stores around Perth with stock according to the JB website.

I thought they were all gone and was looking everywhere,no other deal comes close. Was disappointed. Saw your post, tried again and managed to get one !! THank you sir!

      • +2

That's awesome so happy for you. I feel good helping a fellow ozbargainer :D

    • +2

That is just the machine, it has always been 1399. Only the bundle was discounted.

      • +1

Awesome, that's a ripper deal then.

      • +1

why is the bundle discounted so much???

And who would be stupid enough to buy the $1399 one??

        • +2

All of JB laptop are extremely overpriced and remain at RRP for years unless on sale. I was looking at a zenbook flip 13 on eBay with damaged box yesterday for 1250 (1150 with eBay plus) - JB hifi sells same laptop for 2099 in base model spec.

They rely on numpties and technophobes buying in store, as any self respecting person able to do a google search would find the same laptops several hundreds cheaper at most other major retailers or eBay.

    • And it’s gone

  • Thanks Op, got one in stock, and 5% applied

  • +1

Not sure why this is listed as out of stock - as of just now I purchased online to click & collect from store in Brunswick 3056. Looking at JB's website it's in stock at about a dozen stores near postcode 2000 and 3000. I can't work out how to mark it as in stock - maybe this is something the mods need to do?

Anyway, great deal - thanks OP!

  • Back in stock on Web page - just bought one -

  • Yes it is back in stock. Just got one too.

  • +1

whoever eligible for amex offer, (20 off on 100 - 2 times), they can buy the giftcard and get additional discount as well

  • does anyone pricematch this?
JB doesnt seem to offer the student discount on this.

  • out of stock within 200km of Melbourne now

  • we have a samsung Tab s2 and wanting to upgrade…this is a larger screen. I wasn't sure what to get to replace the Tab s2…considering an Ipad of some description although they are pricey. Would this be a good choice instead? Just didn't want the screen size too big for a tablet.

    • this is superb device but don't expect a tablet style interface to replace your S2… this is still very much a Windows laptop essentially with touch interface bolted on as best that windows can muster. Still a keyboard/mouse affair this one mostly.

  • +5

Picked mine up - looked in the click and collect cabinet, there were like 30 of them lol

    Well and truly ozbargained :p

  • +1

Thanks OP this is perfect! Great deal just picked one up in WA

  • +1

perfect, bought 2, one for son starting y7 next year and this was in the booklist.

  • Damm it. Bought from HN $998 approx 3 weeks ago.

  • Can we confirm this has an micro SD slot? If so may just chuck a 500gb SD in it to compliment the ssd.
I'm not picking mine up till this evening.

    • Yes, it does.

      • Awesome thank you.

    • That’s what I’m going to do too. That way I don’t need to upgrade the SSD.
But the microSD slot is apparently only found on WiFi models. LTE versions don’t have one.

    • its very easy to replace the ssd, I would rather just replace the SSD with 512 GB one. Have a look.

  • Just picked one up, thanks OP.

If you buy in store the sales rep was able to add a Norton 3 month antivirus on top which took the total after I applied the online discount code to $847.

There’s a $20 cash back offer on the antivirus too. Could be worth asking about.

    • +3

That just means you have to uninstall an extra program in 3 months time though. :)

  • OOS again… this time for reals? lol

  • Link is dead altogether now.

  • +3

I had chat(live) in jbhifi about 8pro will be any discount neartime. looks like there is another sale for surface coming on 16th June. we may get similar price again but they cant reveal exact price now.

  • +3

Back in stock, just need to scroll down and add both surface and Microsoft 365 to cart, then delete the Microsoft 365

    • +2

That's a genius hack! says unavailable for delivery at checkout though.

Picked mine up. Just running updates and ninite.
    What a cracker!

OP thank you for posting the deal.

  • So tempted, but 8GB concerns me. How much of an issue is this in the real world - mainly word, outlook, basic excel and running the odd Citrix Sessions?

    • +1

I sincerely doubt you will have issues.
My OH has a surface go with 8GB heavy office use, RDP over VPN and teams for hours a day not a single stutter.

    • Citrix recommends that the host computer has at least 4 GB of RAM and four virtual CPUs with a clock speed of 2.3 GHz or higher

  • Picked one up as well to replace my 10 years old X220! Light, small and powerful!

    • I still have my x250. very well built, very solid, just a bit thick for an "ultra book"

  • Got mine today , ordered last night. Just wondering which surface pen is compatible with pro 7 plus? There are few options in MS website however those doesn’t show that they are compatible with Pro 7 plus!

  • Holy cow, how quickly opinion changes.
This thing is a hunk of junk for one reason and one reason only. The Intel wireless adaptor Ax201 is an buggy piece of crap.

Every device from old to new can max out our router. NBN will hit 99/40, local will essentially almost hit wifi 5 speeds constantly.

The surface maxes out at 25mbit and then tapers off to a halt 2.4 or 5ghz.
I've tried every permutation of setting change relating to the antenna sleep bug. There is 100s of posts relating to this.
Upgraded and downgraded the drivers, with no avail.
Now downloading updated firmware from MS.
If that does not fix it - I'll be returning it.

I cannot express how disappointed I am.

    • +1

The surface maxes out at 25mbit and then tapers off to a halt 2.4 or 5ghz.

My Surface Pro 7 and Surface Laptop Go have no problem with WiFi, a lot faster than my phone.

I am using TP-Link Mesh Deco M5 at home.

      • I have Asus 68U.
All devices are essentially able to max out at WiFi5 locally.
There is a Surface Laptop GO in the mix and it works flawlessly.
My work laptop HP Probook has an AX201 and it works perfectly.

The only one having issues is the Pro.

        • So. Tested at work works as expected.
So somewhere along the lines the SP7+ and my AC router don't like each other.
Unexpected AX AP or Router purchase incoming.

          • @gryphn: Try set difference channel width and security mode on your router or may be even channel itself.

            • +2

@superforever: Bit the bullet , grabbed a twin pack of x20 decos. Set them up in AP mode for now.

All working perfectly now! So it was my old trusty Asus, finally showing its age.

    • +1

Have you updated everything? I get amazing speeds 540 down and 47 up over my gigabit NBN via wifi. I have always hated Surface WiFi but this model has the most stable yet (say this I’ve had it for just over 24 hours :)

      • +1

Taken care of with a couple AX mesh APs.

        Surface now happy.

        • Not gonna lie - was sorta guilty looking forward to rage returning the (not yet received) 7+ for this reason :P

But also honestly super appreciative for the IRL reports :)

          • +1

@nateboy: Ahh look if it were a genuine fault I'd have 100% returned it. Just odd that a Probook with an exactly the same wifi card on board worked fine with my WiFi5 router but the surface spat the dummy.

So yes forced upgrade to the home network but it is something expandable so not a total waste of money.

Although in total I'm $250 away from an M1 MBA.

    • Just tried it and the surface pro 7+ easily exceeds my internet at >500mbps. I'm using a eero wifi 6 router.

  • +3

For people that missed out (me included) came across this:

Slight price difference but still a decent deal.

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/d/surface-pro-7/92wrlrcvz4pr…

When you go "configure now" it allows you to add the keyboard/cover for free.

    • This is really good for pricematching at other retail stores for potential further discounts

    • Good one, considering some people would have AMEX $100 cash back, plus SB 5.5% cash back!

    • Decent enough especially as buying direct comes with the
      Microsoft Store Promise
As price is cheaper at JB, Microsoft would already price match I would think.

  • Anyone know any software mods to make Win 11 look a bit more like Windows 10? Like the start menu?

    • You can orient the start menu to the left. Otherwise that is about it, as MS patched the reg fix some used to get a a classic start menu.

I decided to persevere, only took a few hours to get used to it. But I'm coming in as a MacOS user of 15 years (on the personal computing side) and most of it makes sense.

    • Just install Win10. It's what I did as not a fan of 11 at this point especially as I have many many apps. I need a good start menu. I do have Win11 on another device to see how it tracks as time goes on….with same set of programs.

    • Anyone know any software mods to make Win 11 look a bit more like Windows 10? Like the start menu?

      There's Explorer Patcher and Start11.
