      • Good find!

My wife's boyfriend has given me permission to proceed with purchasing this.

    • so you can cook rice for them

      • +3

As long as it's cooked on a CUCK, he'll allow it.

        • there is a sushi buffet on a naked human body in Japan, you should try sometimes, as the model

    Thanks. Bought 10.

  • Could someone explain what's the point over conventional Tefal Cook4me or Ninja Foodi etc? One could have them around $200 or below.
They say induction somehow penetrates the grains, I don't see how… I have an induction cooktop and it cooks food just the same as conventional.

    • I have a Xiaomi induction cooker, couldn't see any difference with a conventional cooker.
Last week a friend, after trying some rice at my place, said that her pressure cooker makes a totally different rice.

Convention rice cookers cook from the bottom up. I'm pretty sure induction cookers cook from all sides inwards.

Conventional rice cookers heat a resistive element under the rice container creating a hotspot. Induction heating uses magnetic field to induce the walls of the cooking vessel itself to heat up, leading to no hotspots and more even heating.

More advanced heating algorithms in high end cookers mean the rice stays at the target temperature instead of bouncing up and down.

Pressure cooking ability means the vessel can be pressurized above atmospheric pressure leading to a different texture in the rice, and an ability to heat water above 100 degrees.

This cooker utilizes all three features

      • Both sub $200 devices I referenced to are pressure cookers. The hot plate in both devices occupies the whole surface of the bottom, so no hotspots at the bottom. There no hot plates at the walls of conventional pressure cookers, but since the heat rises up and the pots are relatively thick, the walls will get hot anyway. The only thing that will definitely be different is the time required for the device to reach the target temperature. For conventional hot plates it is longer than for induction, most likely (around 5-7 mins). Not sure how this affect the taste.

        • Not familiar with the devices you mentioned to be honest.. I’ve always used a separate rice cooker so when I got my breville multi cooker I never had a need to cook rice in it (apart from risotto, which actually turned out pretty well!)

  • This or Tiger?

    • Have Tiger. Cooks nice rice but bloody expensive. If you can give it to the missus as a present and she thanks you for it, and actually means it, then it might be worth the extra cost! Rice certainly tastes good out of the tiger.

i think both brands are the top brands for a rice cooker, this is a good price. I have had this for 5 years and am very happy with it.

    • From the previous deals of this type, it seems like Ozbargain prefer cuckoo over Tiger. No idea how to quantify how one is better than the other, though.

      • -2

Tiger is considered a low tier brand… this would be closer to top tier

        • How does that work.. Aren't the tiger IH models more expensive than this?

  • Am I the only one that microwaves rice for 19mins on a $3 systema bowl?

    • +1

No literally everyone that does flocks to a tiger, Zojirushi or cuckoo deal thread to tell us all about it

  • Induction plus steam cooking makes amazing rice. I have this cooker and it craps all over the cheaper brands and models.

It can keep the rice at eating temperature for 12+ hours and it is still the same consistency as when it was first cooked. It cooks a multitude of rice styles, the brown rice is exceptional and dam quick as well.

If you eat rice regularly you should be able to taste the difference if you don’t have a high quality rice cooker already.

Fantastic price also, we had to pay $700 as Bing Lee stopped stocking this a few years ago and no stores that sold it ever had discounts.

    • just wonder why would you keep the rice on constant heat for 12+ hours?

      • +1

eat some mid-morning, lunch and still have it again for dinner.

multiple people in the house eating at diff times throughout the day, ready for when they are

Been using the 6 cup version for 3 years and never go back. Best rice cooker I've ever owned. This is a steal.

  • Bought one. Missed last deal. Thanks op.

  • Have Tiger, 6 cups.. just wanted to try this, bought one, thanks OP,

  • Such a good price, shame the 6 cup version isnt on sale. This is too big for 2 people.

  • This or the 279$ costco one?

  • Thanks OP! Good deal.
