  • Very comfortable and classic headphone. Wish Sony can have upgraded version for this model.

  • Need Jasswolf the good old friend to explain if this is good :)

Crinacle does a better job explaining it than me: the Shure and AKG options just above this price point are far better. Stick with the SRH-840A (or the original) if you want something away from neutral, or the AKG K371 if you're neutral focused (Harman neutral, anyway).

It's competitive at this price, but it's got a difficult treble. You'll enjoy the K371, the 840 and 840A a lot more.

  • Reviews seem to paint them as average. Wish I could try before buying, see how they compare to my current Sony MDR-100A's. Which I've been thinking of replacing as the sound seems to be going a bit and the ear cups are flaking off.

But I would also like a set of headphones that have better ANC than my cheapie Taotronics. The cups on these Sonys seem very comfy but reviews state they aren't particularly good at keeping the outside world out and after two hours they've squished in so much to be even less so.

Again, which I could try them. At that price I am tempted. Especially as it has a balanced cable and I've been planning to get a fiio BTR3 or 5 amp.

    • Actually the reviews were for the earlier version. This one has better reviews.

Further tempted to give them a go at this price.

  • Bought it last time it was at this price. Cup is a barely big enough for me, but very lightweight so very comfortable . Sound is quite bassy, not very resolving, but it is a fun sound signature I enjoy. Would recommend for bass heavy stuff like EDM and Hip-hop.
