      • Ahh very good!

  • +1

Purchased, been waiting for this to go on sale for a while, also grabbed the Anova Perforated Pan. For those interested they have a recipe portal over at https://oven.anovaculinary.com/ you can get an idea of what some users have used the oven for.

  • Purchased! I have no clue why I need/want this but heck it sold me when it says it doesn't scorch foods

  • I literally went oh wow and bought it.

  • I'm lazy and get terrible results with my 30 year old gas oven. I need yummy foods cooked with minimal effort as I'm bulking. I'm so lost on what device would be suited best for me. Do I need an air fryer, a pressure cooker, a smart oven? The options are endless ahhhh

  • Ok, So how do they ship it out to you, Auspost? and does it ship from Australia?

    • +1

"Free Shipping (4-6 business days)" so I guess it must be Oz - haven't got the confirmation email yet but it offers a "shop to track" app link for your mobile.

      • Shipping notice email arrived today. Coming by Toll apparently.

  • +1

a fancy oven won't make you a better cook. Learn to cook first.

    • +1

Oh look, Captain Bleeding Obvious is here. Thanks for that stunning "wisdom."

      • hahahahahaha

  • I'm trying to convince myself not to buy this by imagining that they're just clearing out stock in anticipation of a 2nd gen unit…

  • i have been looking at one for a while now. Price had put me off until today :-)

  • I've 2 questions. #1 can it replace a microwave? (Limited space , so something has to go)

2 Moore importantly, can this actually do sv eggs in 13 minutes @75 degrees per https://anovaculinary.com/quick-guide-to-cooking-sous-vide-e… ? I'm boiling water to use with my Anova stick but it'll be a dream if this can do it without a 2 step process

    Thank you

    • 1# can it replace a microwave?

From what I've read yes with a caveat - will take longer to heat food up as it will use lower temps and steam to heat up your food.

      • thanks.
hmm not sure how my text became bolded, i was just typing that on my phone

        • OK

        • It's the hashtag. You need to put a space then the hashtag to avoid it.

          Like (no space)

          #So (space)

seems to be historically cheapest this has ever been…
    which means i bought one.

  • Great deal, I've been looking for a (relatively) cheap combi oven, picked one up.

  • damn i bought the air fryer pressure cooker instant pot and then this shows up which is what i was hoping to kind of get with that… so ive now bought both.

    • -5

well shit, why did you buy more gadgets, when you should just learn to cook using "normal" equipment.

      • +1

I should also just cook with an open fire in that case.

        • that would be silly when we have normal ovens already.

  • My old Sunbeam oven is getting a bit flaky so after all the positive comments I'm taking the plunge. Thanks.

  • +4

Interest rates rise. Inflation. Cost of living…

Now I go buy a $680 oven thanks to ozbargain.

    • +2

Just justify it as more eating at home to save money. There’s always an OzB way of thinking.

  • +1

Just a note that if it is going in a cabinet, it needs 4 inches on each side for proper ventilation

  • Came home and measured a few areas..wow it's a big boy but I managed to find a place to fit

  • it's a combi oven which is nice if you know what to do with it, but it will take up valuable countertop space.

  • +3

    FYI
I use this cast iron griddle https://www.weber.com/AU/en/accessories/cooking/gourmet-bbq-…
    and this Pizza Stone https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B086GN91CW/ref=ppx_od_d…
in my Anova Oven, they both fit on the shelves great (although the stone was only $37 when I purchased it )

    • Dumb question, but what can you cook on the cast iron griddle in the oven? Anything you'd usually cook on a griddle? Eggs? Bacon?

      • +1

Not OP but you can pan fry on the stove and finish in the oven. Great for skin on chicken. You can also use it as a roasting tray for bacon and anything else.

      • +1

Eggs, Bacon, Pizza, Bread,Yorkshire Pudding,Pancakes, searing Steak the possibilities are endless . don't forget you can heat the oven up to 250degrees so you can get the griddle pretty hot if you need it

  • Ohh boy, I literally just pulled the trigger on a $1k Panasonic 4 in 1 today :(

Great find OP, wish I had of known about this sooner!

      • -3

        it's the truth!

  • Does the top of the oven get hot when in use at high temperatures?

can you place stuff on top of the oven?

    Cheers!

    • It gets warm and you do need about 4 inch clearance all round.

  • Expired it seems
Take an extra 20% off sitewide!* Use code: DAD20
    *Excludes Anova Precision Oven

  • Yes it does. You can always warm your plates on it,just be careful not to scratch the paintwork though.

  • +3

The page says the sale excludes the oven but the code works. Pulled the trigger in case they realise it’s a mistake and disable the code..

    • +2

great marketing move on anova's part cornering people into a deal haha

      • It sure sucked me in……now to wait 4-6 days before trying out the new toy….lol

    • Damn the choice review wasn’t really a fan of it - especially with their testing of different foods like chips - I’m yet to pull the plug and I want to, but seeing this makes me hesitant

      • +1

Anova probably didn't pay them enough. Choice has a reputation that is vastly better than anything they actually deliver.

Read some reviews from proper cooking sites/organisations.

      • +3

I don’t agree with the Choice comments. I have cooked loads of frozen chips and never had a problem ( I use one of those air fry wire baskets mounted on legs that sits on a tray, they were the in thing a couple of years ago for air frying in a conventional oven ) . Also the review says there is no grill so I don’t know what the top element is for duh. The review also says the cooking can use top element, bottom element or top and bottom element only. it also has the rear element which they did not include in the review. I wonder if they actually tested the appliance or went off hearsay of other reviews.

        • +2

I find Choice reviews a bit hit and miss, especially when it comes to technology. This oven is pretty advanced and has a lot of features, so I expect reviewing it is something you aren't going to be able to do in an afternoon.

Sometimes they nail it, and sometimes they are wide of the mark by a fair way

  • Think there's any chance our orders will be cancelled due to the promotion saying not including the oven? Bought it before it changed but just wondering

    • +1

Nope, I was talking to a rep in support this morning re taking something out of my order that includes an oven and he was fine about it, and the reply shows what I paid, the discount amount and so on..

  • Looks like have they have now removed the oven from the 20% off. Maybe too many orders, was a dam good deal at $680.

    • Yeah, exactly

    • "DAD20 discount code isn’t valid for the items in your cart"

      Yep. Too bad.

  • +1

Wow i read through the whole thread and just about convinced especially at the point where the code works where it shouldn't.

Then reaching the end where it said not valid anymore.

    MISSED OUT

    • same, better saving then

  • Got my shipping notification today so looks like they honoured the deal!!

  • Shipped out today, according to the email (carrier is Toll to western Victoria).

  • Mine arrived this morning ❤️❤️

  • Got mine but I think there is an issue.?..

On page 13 of the manual there is supposed to be a rack that fits inside the tray. Mine didn't come with the rack. Anyone else have this issue?

If so then its a bit misleading. Because the picture of the wire rack clearly shows it iis the kind with the bent down "feet" that allow it to sit off the borttom of the tray. The wire racks for the actual oven are a totally different design than the pictured one. Mine came with the 2 oven racks, but not this one with the "feet"

    • +1

Same here the trays that came with mine don't have feet as depicted in the manual

  • Arrived today (outside Ballarat), and I'm WAY too busy to do anything with it until tomorrow. The box is just sitting there, taunting me.

  • Mine arrived today here in metro WA, sadly the left panel was dented out of the box. Arranging a replacement with support now. Sad days, was looking forward to cooking with it tonight!

  • +1

Did anyone get hit with an international transaction fee ?

    • Yeah, pretty annoyed about it too. Haven't complained to support, but will. If there's a notification then it's well hidden (or was).

      • -1

Probably your bank as anova is an intl company.

Use a fx fee free card next time

        • Oh, gee, thanks Captain Obvious. The point being that it's advertised on the site in AU$ so it's reasonable to expect a local transaction.

          • @mickeyjuiceman: you can return it

            • @wangsk: WTF would I want to do that? What is going on here with all these dumb comments?

          • +1

@mickeyjuiceman: Lol sorry didn't know you knew your card charges overseas transaction fees. But if they do that, your card would do that with a lot of online retailers. It would be the same scenario.

This isn't something new and happens all the time even though the transaction is in aud. Not just anova but other retailers too. That's why..always use a fx fee free credit card

            • @EnergicAU: Can you even read?

              • +2

@mickeyjuiceman: Maybe I'm not explaining myself properly:
                https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/consumers-urged-to-loo…

Your bank won't refund you the fees (well in my experience anyway) and anova will probably tell you that its not their problem as they debited in aud.

Which brings me back to my original point, if you make online purchases often, even for like intl airline tickets, it doesn't matter what currency they charge you in, the banks will still charge a foreign transaction fee esp if their processing isn't in Australia..which is very normal for a company that's not from Australia. Which is why I said to use a fx fee free card all the time for purchases like this as you never know.

                • @EnergicAU: You are explaining something everybody understands and nobody is talking about. But go right ahead, every post shows how you have no idea what's being discussed.

                  • +2

@mickeyjuiceman: Sorry what are you whinging about then??

                    • +3

@EnergicAU: Anova is advertising and selling their products in AUD, with no mention that the final price would change due to forex, with an arguably Australian domain. When you checkout, the domain switches to au.anovaculinary.com. The issue here is not how you circumvent forex and forex fees but that it should not even be a consideration in the final price paid.

Which is the correct assumption to make because I paid with amex and no forex fee was charged. I think you can definitely take this up with Anova.

                      • +4

@plentifoo: It's not that it's changed due to foreign exchange rates. It's the bank treating the transaction as an overseas transaction and thus charging the normal 3% foreign transaction fee banks charge as anova is a foreign company and their processing is done offshore. Anova will say they debited AUD and to take it up with your bank I would think.

I got charged $680 along with most other people. It's a bank/credit card issue not an anova issue.

      • +1

ay? what card did you guys use? Just a straight $680 charge on my Amex. I don't think there was any FX involved…

  • +1

If anyone in Victoria is unhappy with theirs for any reason I would be happy to take it off you for the same price so dm me. So all you remorseful buyers hit me up.

  • +1

I can at least confirm their aftersales service has been exceptional so far. As mentioned earlier, received mine with a 2cm dent on the left panel, sent an email out to customer service who replied that it is purely cosmetic and would not affect the functionality of the oven.

I responded that wasn't the point; I paid for a new oven and I expect it to be as new. They printed out a DHL return label for me to return the flawed unit and sent a new unit via TOLL to me about 3 days ago. Hopefully this all pans out well and i don't get a used/RMA'd oven that I see many people on reddit end up with due to logistical hiccups.

    • I would have asked for a 30% refund
