Best No Overseas Fee Credit Card in 2022?

I used to use 28 degree and also had a bankwest zero platinum a few years ago and both were cancelled.

I need to apply for a no overseas card again for an overseas trip. So, the question is if 28degree or zero platinum are still the best no overseas card in 2022? Which one of these two is better? Or are there any other better options?

Thanks.

Do you need credit? If not, Up bank and Revolut is a good option to travel.

I am currently in Europe travelling on my Revolut card and it’s been great. I had planned ahead and converted AUD to EUR in advance when the rate was good. It gives you the option to setup Stop limit orders.

    • I do need a credit card, but this Revolut seems very interesting. I may set up an account with them :)

Don’t forget referral code from Ozbargain :-)

Up still had some nasty arm fees in Italy for me

      • Unlikely to be an Up issue.

        • Sorry I meant atm

          • @Tleyx: Yell given ING is the only one that's ever reimbursed international ATM operator fees here in Australia. There's not much you can really do about that other than to use ING.

    • Does Citibank plus still have no fee to withdraw money from ATM overseas?

        I believe so. I didn't get charged

        • Thanks. I'm planning for first overseas trip since covid started. 3 years ago before covid, I just used citibank plus debit card and 28 degrees credit card. I can see nowadays people talking about revolut, UP, HSBC, etc. Just trying to figure out if I'm missing on anything.

          • @sherv1: Yeah there are a lot out there. I'll keep with Citibank and have some money in my Macquarie as back up. I probably will just stick with these, unless citibank changes with NAB takeover. (No news yet of any changes)

  • I do need a credit card. I already have a citi debit card for withdrawing cash if i have to.

    • Check that country's ATM fees. I got burnt in South Africa when I tried to withdraw from debit and all the ATM's had a minimum fee (double digits) or a pretty high percentage and I just used my cc instead lol. Can you get 28d again? The exchange rate was very good like very close to the google rates.

  • but thanks for those alternatives that i have never heard of. I will check them out :)

    • OP your question is pretty much answered in detail here

  • It’s not just the fee, but also the exchange rate. Some have no exchange fee, no atm fee, but sting you on the exchange rate.

  • Bundll velocity digital credit card. No credit check, just make sure they can access a bank account with regular outgoings/ingoings. Free forex transactions and no annual fee. Backed by Illion. The best thing is that you can double dip on points - buy with bundll and earn velocity points and pay it off with another points earning credit card.

    • Why didn't I know about this before! :O

Are you sure there's no credit check? The terms and conditions have a tick to let them access your Illion credit report

  • CBA worked where others did not like bike rental in France.
    Other countries, other arrangements.
NEVER use Suncorp, unless you want to be stuck in Dubai for days!
Big name brands generally have more arrangements. Check travel forums!

  • Macbank transaction account with today announcement is pretty good
money sit around earning 1.5% (start June 17) if you not using it

    https://www.macquarie.com.au/everyday-banking/transaction-ac…

We don’t charge fees on Transaction Accounts, Offset Accounts or Savings Accounts.

We provide a refund on fees incurred at all ATMs in Australia.

We don’t charge fees to withdraw cash overseas or make international purchases. Other financial institutions, such as the banks of international merchants and international ATM operators, may charge you fees for these transactions.

  • ING refunds international ATM fees. I think they're the only bank to do that?

    • Yeah they're the only one that reimburses foreign operator ATM fees others in Australia do reimburse domestic fees but keep in mind ING has gone from unlimited if you met requirements to 5 in a calendar month.

    • This is ending on 1 August 2023 sadly
