I was looking at these previously but found they don't support Thunderbolt 4 for display or power delivery, need to step up to Zenbook for this. Literally the only thing that has stopped me from pulling the trigger.

    • The review you shared is with RTX, the OP deal is for builtin graphics

      • Agreed, but I did a decent search of finding anything suggesting if the Vivobook Pro line has Thunderbolt. This is as close as I've found.

I would not be taking Officework's word for it.

You'd be looking for an Intel model if you want TB4. I assume they've copied over the description without adjusting it.

Waiting for UHD at that price :(

    • Is uhd better than OLED or is that just resolution

      • +1

        Resolution

        • +11

Seriously? Who needs uhd on 15 inch?

          • @dosada: Perhaps he justs wants UHD

            • +4

@[Deactivated]: I get it, but it is impossible to work on uhd on 15 inch without scaling. Just wastes faster the battery and gets warmer for nothing

              • @dosada: This is an Amoled screen. Sharpness is like between 720p. UHD is not there because you want it, it's to look natural on what you expectfor a 15" screen.

              • @dosada: I didn't know about this.

    • He is expecting too much at this price point. There will be 4k for $ 1K laptop but I think it gonna terrible for colour and contrast. Just similar to 144hz screen on budget gaming laptop.

Yes, because this is a <$1000 laptop with an OLED screen

Lenovo deal far superior. I got an RTX3060 for sub 1000.

With a worse display at an unprecedented EDU discount that sold out within hours.

          Apples to oranges mate.

          • -8

@Sleeqb7: Pretty sure anyone would take the worse screen for that sort of graphics card. Lenovo was still a deal even though unprecedented and most people have access to an Edu account, except single bankers looking for high yield investments.

@Lets Make Sandwiches: Not everyone uses a laptop for gaming, screen quality is a huge factor to consider when buying a laptop.

  • Thunderbolt 4, 40Gbps, PD (requires a 20V/5A/100W PD Charger to charge)

  • Add another stick of ram and this will be a great productivity machine

    • +5

You will need a hammer and a soldering iron to do that

  • You could pop ChromeOS Flex on this and have a banger of a Chromebook.

    • Ill try that soon, been enjoying pop os.

  • is OLED good for eyes ? also is it PWM or non PWM ?

    • Don't worry about the pwm unless you need to use it in low light condition.

    • I think I read somewhere that this laptop uses PWM when below 50% brightness (but don’t quote me on this).

Having only 8GB of RAM in a device which isn't up-gradable kills the deal for me regardless of price, Windows 10 and 11 uses around 2~3 GB of RAM on idle, 16GB really should be the minimum standard for all laptops especially soldered memory, having only 8GB of RAM doesn't really "futureproof" the device

    • 80% of laptop users will have plenty with 8gb. The rest will buy higher end with more or upgradeable memory

  • +3

Why such good specs comes with 8GB of RAM…
