  • This is cheap. I got mine for 80 and thought it was a bargain.

  • +15

What’s the quality like? Is it a cheap hoodie with the logo?

    • +1

      This

    • +8

      Yes.

    • +25

The logo transforms the cheap hoodie into a timeless addition to one’s fashion armoury

      • +2

Never really thought that The North Face was fashionable..

      • +1

        Free advertising

    • +1

Bit thin .. not super warm but quality is fine

      • Thanks. Good to know.

    • +2

this will keep you warmer cos it has the "THE NORTH FACE" logo on it
also you will look super "cool" cos that logo

  • +2

    Gotta have a full zip

  • +1

I swear I just read an article about everyone wearing the North face lol

    • +2

With this hoodie there is no doubt it’s North Face with that fatass logo

    • +1

is it the next black Kathmandu down jacket?

  • +6

This the next tier upgrade from Champion reverse weave?

Kmart ghetto hoodie < Champion RW < TnF < ??? Tesla hoodie?

    • +2

Do you have to be half dome to buy this? No, but it sure helps

    • +7

Reverse weave is better, I have one. It's warm as

    • +8

      Pretty much.

While TNF started as a mountaineering/adventure brand and they do indeed still make that "tier" of gear.

They pivoted like the majority of specialist sport gear makers towards athleisure and fast fashion.
And like Champion that is where the majority of their profit comes from.

This is a basic cotton/poly blended hoodie.

It doesn't contain amazing tech, unique weaves, patented designs, or trackable cotton or factories (unless TNF has changed in the last year or two they were pretty universally badly regarded amongst hiking/climbing/environmental brands for their practices).

If you enjoy the design go nuts I guess. There are still pieces from TNF I would wear, but if I'm going to spend $75+ on a hoodie it'll be with a reputable company like Patagonia.

      • Pantagonia will not sell you a hoodie for $75 unless its a obscured sale somewhere. You are looking at $180+ and Arc'tyrex bodies are like $250+

        • +5

Patagonia hoodies RRP at $120, and are on sale for $80 every few months

      • It's a shame that they don't offer their soft and hardshells more broadly. Hoodies and puffers might be more popular, but nothing beats a good softshell.

  • +4

Plain Gildan hoodie without the logo. Save a little under 50% off the price of the North Face one. OzBargain job done.

  • +4

Thanks OP, had afterpay promotion for 30 off as well so ended up being about 33 for a hoodie including shipping :)

    • Mind explaining the afterpay deal please? Can't see anything listed.

      • it was just new user promo, i hadn't used it till last week. $30 off for any order over 60.

  • -4

    DAN …..nope

    • +1

Lol a Dan jacket, I bet he has shares. XD

    • +4

      It looks ugly to me.

  • +3

Thanks OP! I've just purchased a NF black hoodie and matching black jock strap!!

    • +4

North face and South head covered. Great job!

      • First review of the product…

Ordered the COTTON STRETCH JOCK STRAP 2PK online, one of the two I received had visible white stains on the material. Considering the plastic packaging they were in wasn't sealed properly, I can only assume that it was an returned item. Attempted to contact David Johns customer service but the online chat box is always down.

  • Don't get your hopes up, DJ will likely cancel any decently priced order.

    • +4

They cancel because they can't find the stock. DJ fulfills from the shop floor and they will let you order even if there is only a handful in the entire country (according to the inventory system). Then you got stolen, damaged and what not items which is not reflected inventory. Which means the stock may not be there to begin with.

So it's not that they cancel decently priced items deliberately, it's because decently priced items gets sold fast, and often becomes a crap shoot on whether there is actual stock or not.

The best part is that they will have logistics guys scouring through the entire department, holds and reserves trying to find that one item which might have been long stolen.

      • It's shocking. I've made about 7 orders from DJ over the last 2 years and all bar 1 have been cancelled. They need to manage inventory better.

        • -1

As an ozbargainer you should know to buy clearance items at the very start, then return and rebuy when there is an additional 30-40% off. You don't wait until the end when there is limited/non existent stock.

          • +1

@annarchon: It's not even just clearance items. I've just tried to order a pair of RM Williams boots at full RRP with the extra 20% off in the last week. Every size and colour is in stock on the website and even that gets cancelled. They need to be better.

  • +10

Personally don't think the massive logo looks that great - more a fan of smaller logos

    • +3

Or better still, no logo at all.

    • +9

But how will people know what brand your clothing is to evaluate your identity and worth from 100 meters away?!?!

    • +1

      @Stigasaurus I agree.
      That logo is a bit 'in-your-face' ;-)

  • 20% off is pretty week for DJ's, normally they'll do 30 and up to 40% off but it depends what's the left

    • Pretty week is during the last-minute Christmas rush, and so the discounts are more modest than usual

  • +3

I find it hard to believe people actually pay $120 for these….surely not?

    • Only during pretty week

  • +3

The logo is not large enough for me. It must completely cover the front and at least 90% of the back of the clothing.

    • That’s a bit more than I can bear

  • +3

So expensive for a hoodie, paying solely for the logo?

  • +4

    Logo with a hood

  • +1

Bought one as a gift for my brother, cheers OP.

  • Cheers. Got the Bonds Ori Pride Dyna Briefs.

  • Too much for me.

  • Thank you OP, snagged 2 sale hoodies for 126.40 free delivery seemless online purchase

  • Bugger, no FF size left :)

  • +4

Should be given out for free, who'd pay for this to advertise that huge logo…

  • +2

lol at that massive logo. Looks like a cheap knockoff from Camden market 😂

You can buy proper full-zip Northface hooded fleeces for about the same price at outlet stores.

  • +4

Found a lot of quality brand no longer quality compares to years gone by, I got the north face jacket decade back still got it and look new, quality is top notch, Stitching, zip material they all well design and put together

These days I found they just slapped a logo on and just pump them out.

Merrell shoes used to be good last a decade these day it rubbish last maybe 2-3 years

They used to be expensive because of quality but these days that quality no longer there
And I don’t like large logo I prefer something small tuck away some where out of the way, so
If you look you find it for identification rather than sticking out like a billboard

    • Well said.

    • That's why I go to Vietnam and get those same jackets that have lasted years for only 20bucks. Because I'm not that retarded to pay 400 to 700 for a jacket

      • -1

Where abouts in Vietnam can you get these? I'm genuinely interested as I might be going there in a couple months!

        • +2

Ho Chi Minh has Ben Thanh markets and I'm not sure of the name but Hanoi also has the same thing. Bring N empty suitcase and be there when they open as they heavily discount for their first customers

  • Think they might be out of stock now?

  • -1

In what universe is even this half-price offer anywhere near the real value of this flimsy garment?

  • Won't really relate to buying insanely elevated price of "name brand" to normal price as bargain though.

  • +1

The North Face is a bit embarassing to wear these days .. too popular hence not very trendy.

It was good about 10 years ago when it was a bit more alternative and cool
