D-Link EXO 2000 DAP 1820 Wi-Fi Range Extender $79 + Delivery ($0 MEL/SYD C&C) @ Scorptec

40

Was looking to buy wifi extender for Dead zone in my house. Found this on internet and went to JB where they are selling this for $199 but they price matched it.
Few Commbank customers and AMEX customers have cash back on JB.
Spend $50 and get $10 back, spend $75 and get $20 back etc which can further bring price down.

why get a wifi extender when a mesh system would be better?

  • +1

Probs should put price $79.00 in the title. 👌

  • Mesh or nothing

    • Why? We've got a big house, only one room has no signal. I don't know why we'd need mesh.

Tenda 3 hub mesh is $99 you'd have faster access using this

        • Pretty slow if you've already got a fast wireless router and just want to extend it a bit. I'm thinking about this, I get 700mbps on my PC (gigabit internet) but one room seems to struggle. I'd rather not lose that 700mbps though just to get a mesh network.

          • @freefall101: Use the mesh wifi in bridge mode? Keep your fast router for core networking

      • +1

The basic old extender is going to impact speed for the entire network when it's room is using it.
A proper modern mesh with backhaul channel will be better.

      • +1

Because the extender slows down the WiFi in every other room in your house, to provide coverage to that one room.
This is a trade-off that you don't need to make if you choose a mesh kit 👍
