Where to Get Free Rapid Antigen Tests in Melbourne

Hi! My partner became a covid close contact. Would anyone know where the best place to get free rapid antigen tests in Melbourne? I heard in the past they used to give them out for free in selected testing sites although it would be good to know if this is still the case and which sites still give them out. Has anyone got experience getting free RATs recently? Most of the forum information is quite dated.

Thanks!

Any testing site gives them to you. Can confirm the one opposite Monash University in Clayton did

    • yeah went to the same one, they ask if you need rat test, then give you a pack of 5, went with my partner got two 5 packs
      (Both got tested aswell)

  • My sister went to get tested last week. Gave a free box of rat test for each member of the household.

  • My pharmacist gives them out for free if you have a healthcare card so i imagine many would

    • The government restricts this to one box of five tests per month, and the pharmacy checks has to log it against your medicare number, so you can't "double dip".

Kids bring them home from school every other week… We have hundreds of them.

Honestly speaking when I was working in a past job, a co worker of other side (in the same building) had been in CLOSE CONTACT with someone from had been COVID positive and wasn't wearing mask, literally told staff like he's paying for XXX, and "STAY AWAY FROM ME, I AM COVID POSITIVE, I COULDN'T PAY ONLINE". the staff member was quite f***ed honestly, anyway staff couldn't really refuse customer to be served. To top that situation further I think that staff member wasn't wearing a mask either.

He had to isolate for 14 days. technically then everyone from the other side was told to isolate if they had not wearing a mask properly (like under nose) or not wearing it at all. Surprisingly our side who is constantly in contact with the other side (but not really for that long) wasn't told to isolate.

Anyway Honestly I got no clue why I haven't been tested positive, I had been to multiple places like Melbourne during the time when they were having a high covid case rates, and Adelaide too ofcourse, when we had massive cases here. I was working in retail, and hospitality too, so constantly used to have contact with so many customers, and quite honestly often not wearing mask properly. Still never really been tested positive.

There's honestly no point of getting tested unless you really really need for your work or travelling etc. In your case only your partner really needs to be tested if at all, you dont really have to if you dont want to.

I think you needed to take a drug test rather than a RAT.

  • why not go to a test centre?
