Can I get some opinion whether this Dell G15 Laptop (12th Gen i7, RTX3060, 16GB DDR5, 512SSD) $1819 @ Dell Australia good deal?

Hi guys,

I am not familiar with computer much, but at the moment this Dell G15 is on sale for $1819 and I noticed that Cashreward has 10% cashback and my AMEX card also has 10% rebate. Therefore after all the discounts and rebate, it would costs me just under $1500 and I would like to add another 1T SSD on top.

Thanks for your advice

  • Looks like a pretty good price compared to the last deals but I don't think you can add another SSD.

    • Unless this is a different gen of G15, @ 3:00, it shows there are 2 slots of SSD. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks!

Also my other concern is there was a post about trouble of getting cashback tracked from Dell site for both SB and CR. 10% make a big difference for me

      • Not sure what video you watched but if you take a look at 5:45 here it shows there is only one slot.

Thanks donga100, I was watching 11th Gen (2021) model where they have both the left and right side but the 2022 seems purposely left the other side unusable. Then I will think about it as I will need to spend another 300+ for a 2TBssd.
          Thanks for your info!

@JCRALLYART: Because the review video is in Chinese, I can translate for you, is the position still there, but the slot is been cancelled~

            • @billhan: so doggy, making me either go with a 2021 model or else buy an Acer Nitro. They have 2 slots M.2 as well as another full size SSD slot for similar price (just that I won't be getting AMEX 10% rebate)

              • @JCRALLYART: Nitro build quality is bad, I have one from last Dec, and just three months it cannot run by battery, claimed warranty from HN, took three weeks repair.
Also even i9 Nitro don't come with Thunderbolt 4 (only some low range nitro 5 with 1650 video card come with check model number have to be n515-56), and it's type c port do not have video out put.
I sold it and just ordered this G15 5520

                • @billhan: didn't pay attention on the connections…oh no. the one I am looking at is from harvey
                  https://www.harveynorman.com.au/acer-nitro-5-15-6-inch-i9-11…

                  • @JCRALLYART: Also for G15 you can combine with vivid5 for further 5% off, and 10% SB cashback, 10% rebate from Amex. Make the final price less than 1400. If you have edu voucher the can get 7% further rather than 5% by vivid5

                  • @JCRALLYART: This nitro has no Thunderbolt 4, 11th i9 won't beat 12th i7. Also if you need connect dual monitor, one monitor only can be from usb A which mean no 4K. I believe extra money is worth to replace a 2TB SSD for G15

                • @billhan: 5520 which means this year gen 12 or Ryzen 6xxx which means internal wise, only 1 slot of SSD and if you want a 2TB upgrade would cost another 300+

                  • @JCRALLYART: G15 you can get better 12th i7 with 14 core-20 threads, better RAM DDR5 vs DDR4, full power 3060 (130w) vs nitro (95w). plus Thunderbolt 4, better service 1 year onsite, better build quality. If you can get G15 5520 less than 1400, saved $300 for replace SSD to 2TB.

                    • @billhan: The Nitro one is AN515-57-52E0 so it has the thunderbolt 4 but I agree all other components aren't as good as Dell one. If they would have kept the 2nd SSD, I wouldn't need so much time to think and look around.

Thanks for your comparison. I think I will stick with the G15 5520, may I check what is vivid5 for further 5% off or edu voucher the can get 7%? Are they similar to gift card? If so I wouldn't be able to use it as I need to use AMEX to max the discount

                      • @JCRALLYART: AN515-57-52E0 don't has thunderbolt 4, only AN515-56 has. Double triple check spec. Even in HN, see the spec, there is no thunderbolt 4

                      • @JCRALLYART: VIVID5 is 5% off when you checkout enter this coupon. And if you have an edu email you can get a edu voucher from Dell which is 7% off code, you can get it from here https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/lp/student-laptops

VIVID5 and edu voucher cannot stack together, you need to choose one.

                        • @billhan: thanks. I won't be able to use any code if I want to use Shopback for 10% ex GST cashback
So at the end should costs around $1470. Thanks mate!

                          • +1

@JCRALLYART: No, the cashback also tracked when use code, I got it.

                            • @billhan: shopback or CR?

                              • @JCRALLYART: Both can tracked. Shopback is 10% now

                                • @billhan: Thanks Billhan!!

                                • @billhan: How sure is this? The code is not listed on shopback I'm scared to take the risk if I don't get discount ha.

                                  • @ozchobie: They never promise the cashback, however in Dell invoice or order confirmation never shows any code, promotion coupon or discount. So take own risk.

                                    • @billhan: Did you get cash back with code from your experience?

                                      • @ozchobie: Yes, normally un-cashbacked voucher won't be tracked.

  • Where is this cash rewards 10% cashback? All I can find is 6%

    • Shopback is 10% now.
