Keychron Q1 QMK Custom Hot-Swappable Mechanical Keyboard Grey Barebone Kit $139 (Was $199) + Delivery @ Keychron AU

121

This is Q1 version 1 barebone kit with aviator cable

What's the difference between the Q1 non Knob version 1 and Version 2?

Version 2 Adjustment:
1. Double-Gasket Design with extra silicone gaskets installed between the top and bottom cases for an improved sound profile.
2. Steel plate instead of an aluminum plate, making the board heavier and sturdier.
3. The top case has sharper corners to make it much more compatible with third-party keycaps.
4. Abandoned the Coiled Aviator Cable.
5. New screw-in PCB stabilizer.

Please notice that this is barebone kit without switches and keycap

I would but gotta save my money for Sunday purchase of QK65

Different layout though, some people can't compromise the layout aesthetic and functionality.

    • where at?

    • Diff layout but I agree. The keychron doesn't even come close to qk65. I ended up ordering direct from qwerty. Seemed to me the the difference in cost was negligible, but could be wrong. Just ordered a capsule too which cost fortune.

Now this keeb at same form factor as keychron is real bang for buck

29USD shipped. There is a 10% coupon floating around too. No qmk though

      • Yeah but some people want alu case lol, myself included

        • Must be pricing error at $50

          • @Sammyboy: Hmm what are you showing here? That Ajazz is 220 AUD from my side.

            • @Masticccc: The peace version was $50. I didn't buy as thinking was an error

              • @Sammyboy: Yeah that version is 220$, probably price error before

Pretty nice kit and even includes a bluetooth PCB option, but it does start at ~255 AUD shipped, which is almost double what this current deal is. It's also a pre-order so you won't be receiving it until later this year

  • Need to get the q5 barebones in stock. Only having the pre builds in stock sucks.

  • What’s the general opinion on this board from the keyboard enthusiast community? Is it worth it at this price?

    • +6

Well it's the best bang for bucks for sure. You get a 75% layout, hotswap, rgb, knobs, QMK programmable, alu case at 139 AUD, what do you want more (yeah Ik ppl screaming wireless but be realistic). Just 1-2 years ago at this price I can only get a plastic keyboard with some china programmable software. Not to mention Keychron has official partner in Australia, so warranty and services are there compare to the usual custom keyboards where you found little after-sale supports.
About sounds and typing feels, there are plenty reviews on Youtube for you to judge. General consensus is the Q1 kinda hollow (pingy sounds when type), but some simple mods can change that.

      • Wasn't it 139 usd? Oh snap I stand corrected. Not bad!

  • Cant wait till they make a metal 1800 with knob that doesn't have wireless issues

    • +1

Well then the kit will cost much more than their intended market.

      • Are you sure? They're 95% the way there

Or are you meaning that the cost to fix regular wireless/QC issues, would push price beyond expectation

        • I mean for the Q line, just adding the wireless feature will push the price up noticeably. Keychron facebook group admin tell that in a post.

I don't need another keyboard I've already got enough… I look forward to my new Q1 arriving

    • Seller has been unresponsive on multiple avenues.
Adding a downvote to this deal per voting guidelines issue with retailer.

Have had delays before eventual arrival in the past but not ghosted like this.

Hopefully they try to sell through their eBay front again
