The bad: The OCZ Agility 3, though fast, is noticeably slower than other SATA 6Gbps SSDs without being proportionaly cheaper. It's capped at only 240GB, takes a long time to format, and doesn't come with a drive bay converter to fit in a place of a 3.5-inch hard drive.

Something to think about if your buyig for speed

  • hows it compare to the sandisc extremes that have done the rounds on ebay for 129? IOPS seem about the same?

I have used both and CystalDiskMark showed that the sandisk exteme was considerably quicker. However I didn't notice the speed difference with normal usage.

    • my sandisk extreme 120GB has crystaldiskmark of 475MB/s read and 130MB/s write. 5 passes with 100MB files. Am I doing it right? it seems quite low of a write speed. :S

      • I think the SanDisk absolutely killed it in terms of IOPS (well past 40k), which is where you'll notice most of the differences.

You're unlikely to be writing 130MB/s very frequently unless you're copying large sequential files from one SSD to another. The SanDisk is a great drive.

  • never heard of the company
any good? (i want a non-rep recommendation thanks)

prices generally (with comparison to MSY/UMart etc) don't look too bad, though slightly more exxy (talking less than $5 per item)

price is $20 off compared to PCCG (product match)

not bad, but what about delivery (can't find anything about delivery fee)

    • OCZ is a company that makes (mostly) RAM, power supplies and other desktop stuff.

      • OCZ is out of the ram business. Not a fave of mine but they've been around for 10 yrs?

    • You've never heard of OCZ?
They make performance parts notably RAM/PSUs and they jumped into the SSD game a little early before they had enough support on the programming end.

Wouldn't recommend the Agility 3 basically because a Crucial M4 can be had for virtually same price with much faster IOPS and Random read/writes

      • Where can I get an M4 for ~$1/GB?

      • They've stopped shipping to AUS.

i meant that i'd never heard of megasourcing, rather than OCZ

    • not sure if it that hard to understand for the person above……
I am sure he mean that he never heard of megasourcing, not OCZ.

  • Enjoy your BSODs and crashes with this SSD.

    • Care to elaborate……….

    • They fixed that with a new firmware last November, didn't they?

      • yea they did. This will need a firmware update.

  • Owned 3 different OCZ SSD drives all failed at around the year mark. Unless it's REALLY REALLY cheap $0.50 per gb not worth the headache. Spend the extra cash and go intel or hell any brand but OCZ.
