Where Do You Guys Get Your ID Cards Made/Printed from?

Hi guys,

I need to make some ID cards with pictures and print on both sides.
I currently use mobile ID cards service and it costs me around $30 delivered per ID.

Do you know of any websites which lets me create my own template and get it printed? Or any local shops in Melb?

Try harder. It doesn't quite roll off the tongue. Our treasurer is set to announce a multibillion dollar perennially loss-making rail upgrade, having sold off the profitable freight-making arm for a quick one-time hit (some time ago). I give Dick the tick.

Depending on how many ID cards ur printing, buying an ID card printer might make sense.

We got and ID card printer which came with 1 license to design our own cards with barcodes/qr codes for about $5k.

We got it from ID Warehouse for the machine, blank cards, etc. Their customer support is great. Have always been helpful when we had issues with the machine/transferring of license, etc for the last few years.

For work, I just got on eBay and looked for a used ID printer. Got one for about $400 and have printed about 500 cards with it. The printer ribbons are the most expensive part.

For the design part, I just use Libre Office Draw with a template and they directly print from there.

    Do you own a Laminator?
Various Size laminator sheets and ID cards/housings are available from Officeworks.

I've got those same laminator sheets and while they are great, they are exactly ID size, they don't give the most professional look. Even if you professionally designed the ID and printed it on the best photo paper and carefully cut it out, it'd still look fairly cheap because you have to seal it in and have the clear edge around it. If you need to make IDs on the spot and not wait for them to be shipped to you then it could be a good option though. A proper ID making machine will probably make your ID in one click, versus editing your design file, printing, cutting, laminating.

  • Fake IDs? Tsk tsk.
