Not had this one personally but Akasha is winning heaps of awards at the moment and they're my local in Five Dock, SYD. The Mosaic IPA is delicious, so I can't see why this double Hazy would not be!

    • depends how much you are drinking volumes wise and if driving….. you wouldn’t down a few of these at a bbq and drive home , difference between 5% and 8% doesn’t sound like much but it’s effectively 60% more than 5% beer …..so you’d need to drink 60% less volume wise for the same blood alcohol level …. can get tricky if you don’t check how many std drinks in a can or bottle.

I don’t see a c&c option on the website. Anyone have any insights?

  • Any hint on best before dates? Hoppy beers and age do not mix well. I had their Mosaic IPA fresh and it was fantastic.

  • Love Reddit…

  • $105 for a slab and that’s with 40% off …… so $175 a slab normally …..wow …. understand beer is taxed but it’s based on category e.g full strength and $ per litre of alcohol … cooper sparkling is 5.8% and it’s $56 slab so it’s not tax on 8% beer ….wonder how much they sell at normal price ?

It would cost substantially more to actually make then Coopers Sparkling (which I do enjoy!). Hops are expensive, and IPAs like this are chock full of hops. Still too expensive for my cheap blood, but I think people underestimate the production costs.

It is a bit like “the Italian restaurant sells spaghetti for $18 a bowl. I can make 4 serves for $4 at home!”
I am sure the main sales in these 8% beers are in 4 packs, where $35 for some nice beer to drink at a party is being compared to a bottle of wine and is just a nice little treat middle aged blokes give themselves.

At least I think that is the way the brewers would like you to think about it!
