Commuting Helmet with LEDs Recommendations

Hi, I am looking for a helmet with led as its getting dark sooner here with below requirements:
1. Rechargable, Red LED on the back of the helmet
2. LED and helmet as a single unit, not those bulky type please
3. Light (mainly for biking and scootering)
4. Budget : $100-200
5. Size L? preferably somewhere I can try in store as my large T-rex head doenst fit most of the helmets

Please attach any purchase, review links and any input would be good! thanks!

Just get a normal helmet and put lights on the bike/scooter. A high vis vest will do more at informing motorists than a thin strip of LED on your helmet. Eg. you look left and then LED is no longer viewable by a coming motorist.

I ride a lot a night and have for many years - I've gone through all the fads and just stuck with what works.

I have a MET helmet that has a built in rear flasher but it's not rechargable nor would I rely on just it. I haven't ridden nights in a long time but I also had Ayup lights mounted to it. One facing forward with a spot beam and they other turned to face rear with a red cover. That was in addition to another Ayup in spread on the bar, a seat post mounted rear flasher and a flasher built into the rear of the pannier rack (ebike) and various reflectors on bike, pannier and helmet for side visibility and as Porker suggested a reflective vest. I probably looked a bit ridiculous to an extent but most of my riding was on unlit or pooly lit bike paths but also a tiny bit at each end was in heavy traffic where it's easy for a light to just blend into all the other lights so I liked a lot of light and the passive reflective stuff is good in case you have a light failure.

as its getting dark sooner here

    I've got some great news!

  • I bought one of these..https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B081SJXQT7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
comfortable and adjustable and i like having the red light at back of helmet, 3 choices of flash or still

  • there is this one from (of all places) myer https://www.myer.com.au/p/litmus-lab-livall-cycle-smart-helm…

But the Lumos helmets are probably something to look at https://www.99bikes.com.au/helmet-lumos-smart-black-52-64cm Except they arent in stock anywhere…

find a small LED light that you can attach to the air vents at the rear of your helmet (something with a rubber strap). If you get a flat/square one, the weight isnt noticeable

another flashing light on the bike

  • Its getting dark sooner? Actually from now on its getting dark later.

  • I had an Aldi bike helmet with built in lights. The lights stopped working after we used it while white water rafting and it went under water a few times.
