Also discounted iOS, edit the title perhaps? (saves someone posting a new deal)

  • It's a 452MB download for the Android version btw.

Edit: I should note that it is extremely buggy on my SGS2.
Almost froze a few times at the cutscenes and I'm only on the 2nd mission.
The save screen doesn't even work properly so I can't even save!

    • Works fine on my SGS2… Voda stock non rooted

  • How is this game on a galaxy tab? Crashprone? Smooth?

Btw anyone who'se a fan of the GTA series should definately pick this up for your device, its incredible to play and well worth a dollar (in fact, its worth the full $7.50 or whatever its original price is).

  • I see it for $1.01 on Google Play.

And it also says till Monday February 20th. o_O

I brought this ages ago and played for about 10minutes before I raged at the touch controls. I love GTA and spent the $7 on it or whatever it was and regreted it. Touch controls make it utterly unplayable.

    • if you have android you can sync a controller to it, maybe ps3 or logitech controller

      • Ya if you have a rooted phone try SixAxisController. There's probably some free versions or something similar too.

    • Touch controls make using a friggin' phone utterly frustrating. Let alone playing games.
      What did you expect?

  • I can't find it on my phone.. anyone else having this problem? I'm using a Nexus S on ICS.

go to google play store on pc, log in, buy gta 3 then select to download onto your phone

    • Apparently the Nexus s is not a supported device - market says it is not compatible with my device
Downloaded it for my A500 tablet though.

      • It doesn't work on my Nexus S either, I could understand if the developers didn't bother to make it compatible with the Huawei 8888 Obscura but the Nexus S was Google's flagship phone!

  • There are actually 4 versions on Google Play.
    GTA 3
    GTA III
    Grand Theft Auto 3
    Grand Theft Auto III

From what I can tell they are all the same, but 3 of them says not compatible with my device, and one will let me. I know it won't run at all, but I want to buy it for future devices so at least i will be able to buy it this way.

    • I think that the 4 different versions are for different parts of the world - I could be wrong. Plants vs zombies does something similar.

    • I believe that there are 4 different versions solely based on the naming conventions that are all accepted for GTA. That way, each person that searches for it can find it no matter how they type it.
I'm personally going to get the one that has the most downloads. I feel that when they update it, they will probably hit that one first :)

EDIT: Nope, definitely a region thing. Ignore my stupidity :)

  • iOS version says Grand Theft Auto 3: Australian Version… Hmm… less/no blood? Can anyone verify this?

    • I think there's less blood, like in the PC version of old. Running over people doesn't leave bloody skidmarks as often, and I believe head explosions were cut down. That's my memory from the PC version at least. I have noticed the lack of bloody skidmarks in the iOS one too.

Just been playing this for the last hour. Simply amazing. I have all the settings turned up and frame limiting off on my Note and it runs super smoothly (a little bit of choppiness if it's raining and multiple cars are exploding on screen). I'm pretty sure that's how it ran on the PS2 anyway haha. Can you imagine how peoples' heads would have exploded if you showed them this game on your phone in 2001?

  • Can Anyone recommend a good controller that I can use with Android games. As I find the touch screen controls cumbersome. Plus when I accidentally touch the multitasking button on the galaxy nexus I lose my current misssion that Im playing in.
    Thanks

  • Been playing this on both the new iPad and Galaxy Tab 7.7. Both run quite well, the virtual controls take a while to get used to, but it's MUCH better than I expected. Most functions can be done quite easily but targeting weapons stinks. Wouldn't recommend playing it on a <4 inch phone though.

  • Is there a way of buying it if I have an unsupported phone? I'm sure I could get it running on my Galaxy S with a few tweaks.

I'm planning to upgrade soonish but the deal will be over then.

  • works fine on motorola xoom, sweet deal. Synced with wii controller using the app off google play.

  • anyone else having the problem of connection being lost partway through the download? i'm pretty sure my wifi connection is working fine and i have plenty of space on my sd card
