+100 for the 6900xt is prob a better deal

  • RX 6900XT or 3080 10GB? Is DLSS and Ray tracing really worth it over AMDs GPU?

    • Do you use Ray tracing and DLSS extensively? For me I don't play game with raytracing, and don't even need DLSS/FSR. So I would get the 6900xt, but you make your choice.

      • +1

I still have my GT 710… I haven't experienced any of those features so I don't know what would be the better option. Either way, it's a massive upgrade to what I have already

        • You can watch on youtube to see how raytracing on/off difference. About DLSS/FSR, basically it's an upscaling + fps boost.

        • DLSS seems to just be a way to boost to 4k resolution in a few titles (by rendering at a lower resolution and then trying to upscale it).

According to Steam hardware stats there's no noticeable amount of people even on 4k resolution monitors, so it seems a bit overblown in importance.

Ray tracing however might get a bit more real world use. I saw a comparison video of cyberpunk and ray tracing made the reflections in everything wet look really nice, but IDK if that one thing is worth way more money.

      • Would ray tracing be relevant for using VR or Sim games like a future hypothetical Dirt6 or Arma 4 on a future unreal engine 5? Want to know how future proof AMDs cards will be for that type of gaming.

        • +2

Nah but nvid has a real good wireless codec for streaming to wireless headsets like the quest 2

    • +1

It really depends on your workflow, if you’re (cursed) like me and need to use softwares optimised for one over the other, that’s usually the best choice, only problem is 3060ti is still liver-sale tier

    • Ray tracing is worth it in games like adventures where you enjoy the beauty of the environment. If you only play fast paced games such as CoD forget about it. You would never appreciate the beauty of RT. It makes getting a GPU a lot easier knowing what type of games you play

      • Can't even turn on global illumination, on path of exile, without burning up a 6900xt. Granted its a gruesome loot based arpg.

    • I like leather jacket, I go for 3080 10GB, and better mining too…

    • ray tracing

      No

      dlss

maybe depeding on the games you play and the monitor you have

edit: should point out that nvidia NVENC is great and a huge advantage if you do a lot of video encoding.

at this stage, just wait for Nvidia 4x or AMD 7x already, where 4k @ 60fps will finally be possible for mid-range card

    • +1

      But the monitor costs..

    500$ or no deal

This. They're been milking us for long enough.

    NATURE IS HEALING!

Im now slightly resenting my 6600xt purchase recently for $439. However everything I have been playing lately on it has been silky smooth.

    • What games do you play?

      • They arent recent AAA titles but Destiny 2 looks very nice with this card.

HODL. the GPU tsunami is about to hit, news out of China last week is that 1000,000's of GPU's are being dumped, it will impact retail market, not just second hand, wait till Nvidia & AMD do their new GPU launch and hit a world of pain when global GPU flood comes in :) EVERYTHING will be down in price, 3080's for $300 IMO and RTX4080 will be under $700 - watch this space! :)

    • +1

i better get my ferrari testarossa

    • Geez better piss of my MSI 3080 Sea Hawk AIO 240 very soon not going through the same pain with my 2x past 3060 TI's 🤣🤣🤣

    • time to wake up….

    • With the logistics backlogs we will see them sometime then in 2024/25

Who believes news that comes about of China?

I remember watching these comments last 3xxx GPU series launch.
I feel this is going to be a similar state of affairs….. High prices with next to no stock with scalpers asking 2x RRP

    • "2 more weeks"

  • Should I buy this is this a good deal?

    • See first comment

    • No, wait for 2 more weeks it will be $50 to $100 cheaper.

  • Yeah but I prefer nvdia

  • +3

I bought this when it first came out for $1200 in December 2020, its a steal at this price! And yes, my GPU is still going strong :D

  • +2

Bought it! Can’t wait to play some games and stop thinking about GPUs!

    • +1

Now stop checking OzB on GPUs.

      • +1

Yep! It was becoming an obsession.
