Read the review before you buy:
    https://www.techradar.com/au/reviews/wd-black-d30-game-drive

According to the review, the sustained write speed after the SLC cache (~12GB) runs out is really bad, worse than a lot of SATA SSDs. Also, Series X only supports USB 3.2 gen 1 (5Gbps).

It's still okay as a gaming SSD I guess (since most time is spent on reads).

    • I'm running an old USB 3.0 Toshiba canvio for game storage, works fine but obviously you can't play XBX games from it.

      • legacy titles on the external, X/S titles on the internal.

        • Yeah exactly.

        • Large HDD for archiving games not being played currently.

External SSD for backwards compatibility games.

          Internal for Series games.

          • @PainToad: I would simply rather re-download on my 100/40 than shuffle that much around on storage. might even be faster, depending on the driver you're using.

@Laserface: I'm on 100/40 FTTP. Mechanical drive is still faster than re-downloading.

  • Thanks, Picked one up.

Which officeworks location is open at this hour?

      • Sorry picked up as in bought one. Collected it today.

  • Why so big

    • It's a Blue SN550 with a heat sink

Samsung T7 1TB would be worth the extra $20 IMO.

  • Purchased for C&C at Noarlunga (SA) store. Thanks OP.

  • Be wary too, I bought a similar WD 5TB hard drive with the same "1 month Game Pass Ultimate" included. The keys were inside (actually included 2 months) but both codes were expired.
Microsoft can't help, Officeworks have referred me onto WD and I am still waiting 3 weeks later for a resolution.
