What a hack! I wonder if anyone has a good hack to get an esim (preferably) for the Usa? Cheapest I found is Airalo which offers 10gb for $19 us with a code (1 month validity).

    • +4

I haven't looked into this in a heap of detail but I think you could sign up for a free t-mobile trial according to this reddit post?

      https://www.reddit.com/r/NoContract/comments/tuzez7/looking_…

"So you have an iPhone, try using T-Mobile's Test Drive eSIM app. 30GBs of data, unlimited calls and text. Only requirement is iPhone and eSIM. No Credit card or anything.
Trial is once every 6 months.

      • Know of anyway to get this app if your App Store is set to Australia?

        • Change account to usa

        • See if it's on Aptoide.com (a kind of third party app store). Works on Android (don't know about iOS).

      • Yes that worked perfectly when I was in the US !
        Even got 5G!

      • The App Store doesn’t work for me?

        • Change apple account to USA

    • Whats the airalo code?

      • Try30
        30 per cent off

    • +3

Try get a Mexican SIM, which will work across USA and Canada also, but a fraction of the price.

    • +1

try 3 Hong Kong travel sims, you might be able to order an esim from them directly (haven't tried myself yet)
      https://web.three.com.hk/prepaid/travellerssim/index-en.html

      • Thanks all. Unfortunately I have some credit in account so I cannot change to us and download T mobile. The cheapest is Airalo no doubt, so I’ll go with that most likely.

        • There is a workaround but you need to create a us Apple ID to download the t-mobile free trial

  • Does it start immediately when you sign up or can I choose an activation date? Unclear and I'm handset through!

    • +3

The last step is payment which activates the service. I did all the steps up to payment a few days prior (personal details, ID verification etc). When I arrived I completed payment and it was activated/working within minutes.

      • Thanks for the info. Is the payment step the same as adding your card? Or do you add your card now and trigger the payment later

        • It’s the same step as adding your card, and is the final step of the process.

Dang that's a good deal! I always use Orange when I've been in Europe and it never skipped a beat with great reception, seems to be their Telstra.

  • -1

Wow, that is a great deal indeed!
    Yes, Orange is like Telstra.

  • I travel to Europe in late September. Is the $25aud without the code pretty standard?

    • Yes, it's a standard price for this plan.

      These are all available plans:

15 GB for 25 PLN (3,48 GB in EU) 4G only
30 GB for 30 PLN (4,18 GB in EU) 4G only
45 GB for 35 PLN (4,88 GB in EU)
80 Gb for 50 PLN (6,96 GB in EU)
150 GB for 80 PLN (11,14 GB in EU)

  • +1

Also a cheap way to get HBO Max for a month? Westworld season 4 anyone?
HBO Max free for the first month

  • +1

    UK included?

    • +1

      After Brexit, no.

    • Carriers only offered it for a few months after brexit, don't think its included any more.

    • +1

If you need UK and Europe, you might be better off with Tesco.
Same price gets you 25GB to use in UK and 48countries in Europe.

  • Fantastic deal, I don't leave till the end of July, but can't seem to find any info on when this deal ends!

  • +4

May want to start the ozbargain referral system for this. Looking good

  • For some reasons I can't seem to be able to add a credit card to pay. It keeps coming back with "A technical issue has occurred"..
Anyone else having the same issue?

    • +1

I had the same issue and kept trying and refreshing. It eventually let me add payment.

  • 11 Gb is more than enough for my upcoming trip to Greece, thanks.

  • +1

Where do you see which countries and what networks you get?
If you use the 11GB of data, can you recharge the service?

But these questions aside, this seems like much better value than the normal cheap SIMs that have throttles and caps even without roaming.

    • -1

Can I use the 5G network abroad?
You have 5G coverage from a local operator abroad that supports this technology and that Orange has signed an agreement with for its operation.

Are you in need of more GB while being abroad? You can buy one of available roaming packs.

    • +2

      The EU countries are:

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.

      • -1

Does it roam to anywhere else or just Europe?

      • Where did you get this list. I am travelling to Norway and Sweden. I am surprised Sweden is in the list but not norway. Can you please let me know. I cant read Polish

    • Late reply, but based on their T&Cs, roaming should cover all European Economic Area countries, including Norway, Finland, and Iceland.
      Source: https://flex.orange.pl/dokumenty/Cennik_Uslug_w_Roamingu_ora…

      • Worked in Norway, Finland and Iceland (personal experience in the last few weeks)

  • Did you have to be in Poland to activate?

    • +2

I was worried about this initially. I successfully activated in Greece without any transit through Poland.

    • I just registered and activated from Melbourne.
This is the best sim experience I have had ( it is a huge nightmare + expensive in a few countries..)

      • Did any of you have issues with the card authorisation being denied? When I put my card details in, it says it's been denied. I've tried 3 different banks and the result is the same for each. I've called my bank and they're saying no attempted transaction is made (i.e. it's not denied by them).

  • -1

Curious to see if it covers countries like Turkey!

    • Orange’s ‘Zone EU’ does not include Turkey unfortunately

  • +5

Reading this whilst visiting my home country of Poland. For a moment I thought I was browsing a Polish website lol. I am actually using the plan too ;-) Well done OP! BTW the additional free sim is an awesome feature too. You can use it with your smart watch or with a 4/5G modem. I hope Aussie networks will introduce the same feature on prepaid/subscription plans too.

    • +1

The extra sims and mobile numbers are a great feature and are very easy to setup (you just scan a QR code). Unfortunately the EU roaming data does not work on any additional sims, however you would be able to use it in Poland.

    • +3

Indeed I am Polish too, this must be the first Polish deal posted on Ozbargain! There are similar deals from other providers in Poland but no one has offered one month free yet. :)

    • Username checks out

  • +4

I can afford this but can't afford Europe trip

  • Thanks for that
We flying to Greece in few days.
Activated on the app but their app can't access my euicc on my s21.
Do I have to be in Europe before I can do that?
My esim settings has option for qr code or manually only.
    Cheers

    • I would click on Help in the app and select the chat icon. They have an English support team and were very good when I had questions regarding the service.

  • Couldn't find the answer to this question easily.. My phone does not support e-sim, can I have a physical sim posted to an address in EU? Outside of PL? I'll be there in a week..

    Edit:
Ended up registering, only posts within pl

  • I'll be in Europe in August. Just wondering if anyone saw a deal end date on the website!

Also hope the cancellation process is easy 😅

  • Thanks for reminding me, I need to look at something for my quick trip to Canada to see the wife's family

  • Hello what is this part?

This means my Boost service will use the cellular data from my Orange service to make WiFi calling to Aussie numbers as if I am still in Aus.

What feature is this and what networks have it? This will be awesome to note when I'm travelling internationally. Does this mean if I have a boost sim in Singapore with a Telstra/Amaysim e-sim, I can call to Australia like a local?

    • So hopefully this provides a bid more detail…
Similar to the way our phones can use WiFi to make cellular calls/SMS when out of reception, they are able to ‘piggyback’ off the cellular data of the second service to make calls/SMS.

I am currently in Greece and my Orange Flex service appears as “COSMOTE 5G” at the top left of the screen. The Boost service sits below as “Telstra using Mobile Data”.

This has allowed me to use my Australian Boost service to make local Australian calls (mobile and landline) while traveling, and also receive incoming calls on my Australian number.

      • +1

Yes this is amazing. You get unlimited calls to any Australian number and if your boost plan has unlimited minutes to overseas numbers, they are included too.

The best part is you can also receive SMS verification codes via wifi too. No MMS but who uses that anyway! (Well Apple! when sending images to Android are because they are stubborn and refuse to conform to the messaging standards they even helped build)

So when I was in the US, I could call anywhere in the US for free with boost that was piggy backing on data through FlexiRoam

        • Is it specific to boost ?
Does it require the provider or your device to have specific capabilities enabled? (I'm thinking VoLTE which I never really paid attention to)
Say you're on Woolies / Coles/ belong, can you access the above ?
Edit: ok, that explained a lot

          • @ShouldIBuyIt: I think the local provider also has you let you use WiFi calling from an IP outside of Australia, I've read on whirlpool that Optus and Vodafone doesn't let you do this, so currently the only confirmed working networks I've seen are Telstra and Boost.

Some have tried to use a VPN to tunnel into Australia, not sure if they were successful. You'd have to do some research.

    • The response in this Apple Q&A may also be useful and includes a screenshot of what I described in my first comment:

      https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253660132

  • Just signed up OP thanks

Already donated 30gb of data for some forest - only the roaming data is of value to me

  • Thanks this works perfectly

  • Note of caution: Just activated, however I F-ed up adding the promo code and got charged by the full amount.

Not sure what I missed, but got charged for the full amount as soon as activated the card, and I couldn't find an option to add the promo code beforehand.

  • Amazing deal, just signed up for my 4 week trip to Europe. So easy and no screwing around with swapping out sims etc. The future is here! :)

  • thanks for posting this great deal. days away from heading over to Europe. Noob question, when setting up do I "keep current number" or select a new number? This shows my ignorance for how an e-sim works in conjunction with physical sim (I'm always with boost)

  • Thanks OP. Partner traveling to EU soon as was looking for an eSIM. Note I couldn't download the app - 'cannot download for your location' so I had to VPN to PL to get the free app (IOS). I had already created an account so all that remains is to choose the number / plan and payment- which i'll activate closer to the departure date. Thanks

  • Thanks for posting OP. Just in time for my trip. I wonder if this is repeatable with a new account at the end of the month…

  • Have you been able to get boost to connect to WiFi calling? Orange Flex connects to WiFi calls without an issue

Suddenly boost started roaming and connecting to cell towers, ever since I haven't been able to get it to connect to WiFi calling even on my hotel wifi.
I'm in Spain at the moment.

    • Glad to read that I am not alone in this user case.
I was only able to regain access to Telstra Wifi Calls once properly connected to a wifi network.
It would not register anymore using the 2nd Sim card internet access.

Although the Boost sim is registering again on cell networks overseas, I could not receive a test call and SMS. So they must be finishing to set up the roaming setup again.

  • Hi Guys, i am visiting Europe (Greece, Italy and Spain in Nov 2022) and looking for 2x Sim-cards for me and my eife for 3 weeks. Sim-card with minimum of 70GB each and it would be great o have unlimited text and call. Any suggestion is highly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Any one else had a issue when selecting a new number on the app and it saying “opps one more time”?

    • Hmm, my friend with an iPhone had some trouble activating it on her phone.
It worked flawlessly on android. Been using it for the last 5days with no issues

  • Even at $26/month, is this still a good value travel SIM? Does anyone know of a more attractive eSIM plan?

  • +1

Coming back with some feedback on this amazing deal, am using it as I type this from somewhere in the middle of Germany.

Like others I signed up and did all steps bar activation. App is really nice and easy to use. On landing in Europe I activated and with some fiddling got the eSim working on my iPhone. I’ve used it in Finland, Czech Republic and now Germany and it’s been on LTE 95% of the time. Coverage is excellent and the worst I’ve had is edge but switching aeroplane mode on and off sorts that out by forcing it to reconnect. Carriers vary from time to time but they’re always fast. Somehow my roaming usage didn’t count in Finland so I landed in CZ with the full 12-ish-gb and with low data mode enabled I’ve still got over 10gb left after a full week with heavy browser + maps + texting.

This is the best deal I’ve ever found on Ozbargain. It puts Australian provider roaming to shame and shows how it should be done. I wouldn’t hesitate to pay the full regular price for this service, it’s been that good. I’m going to keep this number active as long as I can so I can use it when coming back to Europe - so much easier and better priced than even an already-cheap local SIM.

    Thanks OP and Orange 🍊

  • Is this deal actually expired? Because it still seems to show availability at 1PLN (?)

    • +2

still appears valid - I just signed up and applied the promo code, and it was accepted, though I haven't submitted my payment details just yet, waiting til I travel in about 1 week!

      • Did you have to transfer your Australian number? I want to keep my number. Sorry not sure how this works

        • Are you serious? This is a polish sim, how can you can move number?

  • This is why I love OzBargain. 13.81GB of EU data roaming for just 32 cents, valid for a whole month (not 28 days or 30 days, it's a whole calendar month). What a deal! None of the esim comparison websites I checked would mention this offer.

Roaming between EU countries used to be expensive, until the EU regulator ordered the providers to offer free roaming. However there is a catch: if you spend too much time abroad (in this case outside of Poland), they might disable the roaming. Just FYI for anyone who plans to use this for a prolonged period without visiting Poland.

Deal is still active - I just signed up today!

  • Sadly this is no longer valid. Now requires you to port in from an existing number to avail the offer :(

    • +1

It does say this on the website, but I generated a new number and the FLEX code still works.

      • Thanks - looks like if you go directly to the plan page, it does say "PLN 1 with code FLEX".

Plus this now includes 13.81 GB of roaming data in the EU. Just signed up!

        https://flex.orange.pl/en/summary/?plan=150for80/

        • +1

Landed in Germany today, can confirm it still works.

  • I can confirm the promo code still works - even with a new number generated during the registration process. Great deal, thanks!

  • I can confirm it still works too

  • +1

Can confirm this still works for 1 PLN as at 23/09.

  • Just from back from Europe. Worked fairly well but how do I cancel the plan now? Can’t find anything in the app.

    • +1

Ours just renewed and works quite well (better in France than in Italy).

To cancel go to the app, select ‘SIM cards’ at the bottom, click on ‘your number’, click on ‘My Plan’ and at the bottom you have a ‘cancel your plan’ button. That’s how I’m planning to cancel at least…

  • At what stage in the app do you put the FLEX code in?

I am up to "Ready to go? Here, this way! Let's activate your Flex" and after I click on next it shows the plan cost to be 80 PLN/month with next button being "OK, I'll take it". Is the code applied after this step?

Just cautious given this comment https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12411275/redir

    • +1

The field for code will appear right after document and selfie identification. It'll also mention 1PLN on a page where it asks for a credit card details.

  • +1

Confirm deal is still working 2/11

  • +1

Confirmed still working on 6/12. Good stuff!

  • +1

Still good today - 20.12.2022, activated today in Finland

  • +3

Can confirm it's still active (31/12/2022). However they have increased the data allowance — the highest 80 PLN plan now comes with 15.34GB of roaming data, up from 11.14GB.

  • Anyone tried recycling this? Do we just add a new number and use the code again?

    • The code is associated with the identity you use to activate your account (e.g. passport). One use per person I believe… even with a new email etc.

      • I can confirm that if you create a new account, but use the same passport to verify, it will tell you that the promo code can only be used once. However when I tried with my second passport (from another country), I could get the promo once again.

  • +2

Still working, 15.34gb activated in Rome with esim, very easy thank you OP

    • Did you just download the app and follow the prompt to get a new number in Europe? I'm just finding a bit tricky because I don't want to lose my aussie number.

      • Yeah download app on airport wifi when I landed, didnt work with coles MC, worked with St George no problems

  • Can't believe this deal isn't talked about more. The process up to payment is still working.
So far, I've downloaded the app, created an account, selected a phone number for the Polish eSIM, identified myself with an AU passport and a selfie, selected the highest plan, and checked that the payment price will still be about 35 Australian cents for 15gb for the first month.
Have to wait 6 weeks before pressing pay on the day my trip starts.

Just wondering if you can change to one of the cheaper plans such as the 35pln one after the first month if you don't need as much data?
Presuming you'd cancel before the end of the month and then buy a new plan.

    • My travel time is the same - 6 weeks.

I’ll follow the above and pause on the payment step.

    • On their website I recall reading "cancel or downsize after the first month", bit like any subscription plan change, it would usually say effective from your next month lapse date

  • Wow this looks amazing! I’m not travelling till the start of September, would it be too early to download the app and create an account?

    • +1

IMHO, no harm in setting it up and then waiting until your trip to buy / activate the actual plan.
Though, I'd have a backup in the event the FLEX offer is stopped between now and then. I was going to buy two Flexiroam single country packs to cover my trip, with the 15% off using a qualifying Mastercard, it'd cost me about $32 AUD.

      • +1

Coming back with an update. Best not to set it up more than a couple of weeks before hand. The number and plan got deleted after 4-6 weeks and when i went to add it again, the field for a promo code was missing and I got charged the full price after adding my credit card without any warning.

My partner set it up and payed for it all at once and only got charged 1PLN.

  • OP can you clarify your iOS setting to enable this:

I am using iPhone 13, so have my Boost physical sim active alongside the Orange E-Sim

Do you have "Data Roaming" On or Off for your Boost SIM?

Do you enable "Allow Mobile Data Switching" under "Mobile Data"?

  • Has anyone tried this recently? I can't seem to add the promo code, its there but wont allow an entry..

  • Is this still working? I have uploaded my documents but I can’t find a field to put the code? Here’s the screenshot and I’m stuck in this page: https://ibb.co/RzCDNgR

    • Seems to have worked for me. Just signed up at Melbourne Airport. ID verification only took a couple of minutes. Was able to use the code and credit card charged $0.32. Was able to add the eSIM and showed it had a connection so hopefully works when I arrive in Portugal. Shows as active in the Orange app also.

      • Can you confirm where to add the code? If you look at my screenshot above, if i click "Ok, I'll take it", will there be a page in the payment section to put in the code? TIA

        • +1

There was a spot for the code after this step but before payment. Don’t have a screenshot unfortunately.

      • Did the activation run smoothly when you arrived in Portugal?

  • Does anyone know if this works in Switzerland?

    • Happy to be proven wrong, as I also will travel to CH in next few weeks but I don't think CH is part of EU roaming according to their policy. I don't speak Polish but based on table on page 2, their EU roaming coverage doesn't include "Szwajcaria"

      https://flex.orange.pl/dokumenty/Cennik_Uslug_w_Roamingu_ora…

      • You are correct, CH is not included as in fact it's not a part of the EU.

  • Has anyone has errors when trying to add a payment method? It just says a technical issue has occurred

    • Had the same issue.
I finally worked out that you had to allow the app to track you on IOS for get to the payment method page.

  • Anyone have issues activating in Australia (would like to have this working as soon as landing) or did this create issues and it's better to activate once in Europe?

  • +3

Landed in EU last week and can confirm it worked smoothly. Completed the payment and configured the e-sim while at the airport in Aus. Turned on the data roaming when landed. Took a minute or so to establish connection with the local operator.

  • +1

Confirmed still working. At the end of my 4 week trip and worked everywhere except for Switzerland. Fantastic deal!

    • Did you do anything to get around Switzerland? Or just use wifi where possible? Cheers!

  • Is this still working…? Heading to Europe next week.

    • +1

Just went back from Europe trip last week and still working.

  • Travelling today but I had installed the app months ago and left the 1PLN plan awaiting payment.

Problem is, the number and plan got deleted after 4-6 weeks and when i went to add it again, the field for a promo code was missing and I got charged the full price while I was just adding a payment method as it kept requesting. While the chat person said they will refund me, it's unclear as to how and if that will happen.

However, my partner set it up and payed for it all at once today and only got charged 1PLN as expected.

So to keep it simple, don't do anything too far in advance.

    • Damn. I just checked and mine has disappeared too. I’m not travelling till the start of September though. I’m curious if deleting and reinstalling the app would fix it

    • I did the same! Signed up in April, went all the way to the payment screen then paused as I am not travelling until July.
Kept getting email reminders to finish my payment but I never proceeded.
Promo code section is now greyed out.
I have uninstalled and re-installed app - no luck.
I went on their app chat and asked if they could delete my account for me to start again - they said no. They said that once you go to "select payment" stage, you will no longer be able to enter in a promo code.

TL:DR - Don't sign up until you are about to start your trip!

      • Damn signed up too early!!! Travelling in 5 weeks. I have a second passport so I’ll try that much closer to the date (if this one gets deleted). Feeling stupid. Op might be worth upgrading description

  • +3

This is still working as of today for anyone visiting this post.

    • +1

Many thanks… Just about to sign up :)

  • This has been great but having errors cancelling the plan… just keeps loading and nothing happens. Has anyone experienced this? My wife was able to cancel it without issues.

    Solution: Restarting/resetting your phone works!

  • In Paris now, and everything is working great. We even had to purchase the international call pack and it was something like 35 for 100 min back to Australia. Great coverage as well.

  • Just activate it in Italy. Still Working. Thanks for posting an awesome deal OP!

  • Using it in Spain and works great. Getting 5G most of the time

  • Apart from Switzerland, their service also doesn't work in Monaco. But since it is such a tiny territory, you may get coverage from French network providers while you are near the border. You just need to manually change the network provider on your phone as otherwise your phone will pick up the strongest signal by default (i.e. the Monaco provider)

  • How do I select an eSIM? I have created an account on the app and done the ID verification. But my only options seem to be to have a physical SIM delivered (to Poland) or to say I want to pick it up in person…what am I missing??

    • I had the same problem. Turned out my s21fe Samsung doesn't support e-sim… drat🤬

  • I used this last year and it worked perfectly. I'm off to the EU again and I'm wondering if there is a hack to do it again. I wonder if I could use my toddler's passport.

  • +1

Just using in Greece in June 2023
    Nil issues
    Works great

    Reporting back.

    Sign up process.

Me: Made the mistake of signing up with the promo code up to the point of payment a few months before our trip. I ignored the emails and notifications to complete the payment process weekly. On the day before the trip, I added a card payment method as requested and was charged 80PLN about $30AUD immediately without warning, the amount was not displayed on screen. I complained via chat that the promo code that I had originally entered had been dishonoured. They readily agreed to refund me 79PLN to my account but despite repeated attempts would not refund to my credit card. I could only get a cash refund to a Polish bank account. So now after using it for a 27 day trip and having cancelled the plan, I have 79PLN in my Orange FLEX account, which I am unsure if it will expire before whenever my next Euro travels might be.

Partner: Setup and paid on the day of departure and had no problem getting it for 1PLN and subsequently cancelling it at the end of the trip before the monthly renewal was due.

    Service coverage.

Activated it in Rome OK straight after landing. Travelled all over from Sicily up into Austria and had coverage with either Iliad, Windtre or TIM most of the time. Usually LTE and 5G but occasionally only 3G. Without being great all the time, I guess it did the job OK. The further North we travelled, the higher the quality of coverage became so it might just be normal for Italy.

WiFi calling with Boost usually worked via the Orange FLEX data. Boost just needed to be set to a network it had no agreement with such as Vodafone IT. While some personal SMS seemed to get lost in the system we always got the 2FA messages from credit cards and MyGov etc.

We used less than 6GB of data, WiFi on trains and hotels helped a lot, low data mode and turning off mobile data for YouTube and Photo syncing etc - so if we were away for more than a month even one of the cheaper plans would cover us.

Even though this is now an old thread, I hope this helps some people.

    • Thanks for that heading to Italy for a coupon months in 3 weeks. Have boost and will add this as a esim. Did you need a VPN to download and setup in Australia?

      • Didn't need a VPN to download the Orange Flex app or to install the eSIM in Australia.

        • Thanks will do it the day before we go..

          • @ern123: Can we not just do the process qhen we arrive. Everyone seems to activate before departure.

            • +1

@totally munted: Probably I just wanted less hassle after a long flight and for the sake of a day. We are also here for over the month so are going to lose some days at the end so as we are going to stay longer than an exact month just did it in Melbourne

    • +1

Thanks for providing such a detailed report on the process and feedback on the service! I'm sure it took a decent amount of time to write up so I just wanted to let you know that it has helped at least one person!

    • Did you need to send a scan of your passport and a selfie to activate it?

    • hey so i leave next week and want to do this. i'm with circleslife and their roaming is terrible. i'm a bit confused about how to do wifi calling on my iphone whilst doing this deal? are you saying you were still able to receive your messages that your Aus# was receiving from mygov/CC etc but still didn't use any roaming from your aus provider at all?

      • +3

Yes, but firstly I'm with Boost (Telstra) which can receive SMS for free overseas in supported roaming areas without a roaming pack - but I don't know if circleslife (Optus) does.

Secondly, Boost also allows WiFi calling overseas but I believe circleslife (Optus) and Vodafone geoblock it. SMS can be received and sent on WiFi calling but only if your carrier allows WiFi calling overseas.

Thirdly, iMessages, WhatsApp and push notifications from banking apps will work anywhere you have a data connection.

You might want to compare circleslife to Boost with OrangeFlex to say Amaysim with a roaming pack.

I usually refer to whirlpool for tech advice and OzB for SIM deals:
        https://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/wifi_calling
        https://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/esim#esim_roaming
        https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum/114 forums on specific carriers

To simplify things, forget about WIFI calling and just find out if you can receive SMS overseas for free or not.

        • seems like i can receive sms overseas for free in italy and france, and the other countries it say's N/A.

Thanks for your help, truly appreciated

    • Commiserations for the 79 PLN! Regarding wifi calling, is your Aussie phone service an eSIM as well?

Have you set up your phone to have Orange eSIM used for data, while your Aussie eSIM is used for calls and SMS?

just back from 6 weeks germany, greece, croatia, ireland, france, belgium..all worked with no drama and got it for the 0.32c for first 28 days and then $27 for last 2 weeks, Excellent deal and the ability to make/receive voice calls within europe to landlines/mobiles is a big bonus, sure.. you don't use it often as usually whatsapp/messenger etc..but late at night, unfamiliar area in small town in greece, trying to reach the owner of airbnb and they only gave a voice number…godsend! 15gb was fine for a month with internet usage, never held back and used 9gb.

    • did you have an iphone? if so what did you do re: imessage?

      • +1

yes iphone 12, loaded it on the esim. I dont use imessage but cant see why would be an issue, it will just use the data attached to the plan.

    • Hi mate is it 28 days for sure? Hoped it was 30

  • Apparently the Sim can also be used in non-EU countries however at an extra cost to be paid in the app.

ie "Strefa Standard" can be used in "Afganistan, Arabia Saudyjska, Argentyna, Armenia…." and "Strefa Egzotyczna" can be used in "Albania, Algieria, Anguilla, Antigua i Barbuda…"

Does anyone know the cost for these bundles?

    • I have used theirs before but never outside EU - so keen to know too

And do you have to an activate in EU first? For example if couldn’t use it in Thailand first on my way to Italy?

    • Wondering if you have figured out? I’m heading to UK as well

  • Do you have to send them a photo of your passport and a selfie for this deal?

    • +1

Yes, answered your duplicate question above.

  • Just signed up as I will be in Estonia and Finland next week and have 2 pending charges of 38c, Hopefully I only 1 gets charged.

Plan now offers 15.34GB in EU.

  • +1

Tried calling a UK number from Greece and it told me I need to add Standard Roaming to my plan. Was very confused because this whole deal was meant to be for EU roaming??

Then the reason why dawned on me 🇬🇧🤌🏻🇪🇺 haha

  • +1

Excellent deal and confirming still works. Currently in Europe and has worked everywhere besides Switzerland.

    • Thanks for that. I have just activated my plan from Australia ( started it two days early as will need part of the second month anyway)
Wondering when family rings me from Australia to Italy via my new number ( 572…….) do they use the prefix +48 first then add my new flex no. ?
Or as I’m say Italy do they use the Italian code +39) and they change the prefix number depending where I am? Sorry may be a silly question but new to this.
I’m with boost for the Aussie sim and have an iPhone 12.

      • The number is Polish so always use the country code for Poland.

        • Thanks for that. So will tell family to use +48

  • Just can across this, might use this.

  • Anyone know how early before a trip, we should register for this without the code disappearing? We are leaving Wednesday/arrive Thursday to Italy, so not sure whether I should try and set it up today or not.

    • I set it up and activated it two days before we flew to Italy while still in Melbourne, working ok on my iPhone 12 however can’t get the data switching between orange and boost to work. Boost mobile for some reading won’t pick up the data from orange and allow data sharing is on, Also had it could only happen in italy moment, couldn’t revive incoming calls from two local relatives and couldn’t make a call to another. Turned out after a lot of limited language skills on my part. That both didn’t have credit on their phones and the other had some dodgy provider that had no reception although standing next to me. I was blaming Orange but it wasn’t them

  • Just back from a 10 day Europe trip and this worked great. I cancelled the plan on my return and you actually get a full refund if you cancel in the first 14 days so worth knowing for anyone who needs for less than 14 days like I did.

  • Just an update, I added a roaming pack while over in Italy and 28 degrees Mastercard sent me a voicemail to contact them by there fraud department I did and sorted it out but it was a hassle with time differences . As put on hold and not 24 hour response as mentioned in the voicemail

  • I can confirm the deal and promo code still works as at 16/8, just activated while in Germany.

    • Just a comment - I’m finding data quite slow even though phone is showing 5G. I’m using iPhone 13 and keeping Oz number as primary number and keeping it active (to receive 2FA codes) and allowing data switching between primary Oz SIM and the Orange Flex eSim. Not sure if it’s VPN related because Nord defaults to a Polish VPN even though I’m in Germany. I’ve tried to disable VPN but this hasn’t helped.

  • It's coming up for me as "3 months of unlimited internet for PLN 1/mth" using the code "SIEMAFLEX".
I travel in a months time, can anyone confirm if this has worked for them to gain an additional 2 months to the "FLEX" code.

    • +1

You'll need to port in a number to get 3 monthsngor PLN 1/m, unfortunately.

      • Thanks. Have you tried this with a cheap prepaid sim?

        • I have not. I assume you need to port a PL number across, but may be wrong.

  • +1

I used the flex code for the maximum plan. I noticed in my app that because I am on the 80 plan I can have unlimited free internet. However when I went to tick the box to receive it I noticed that it only applies if you are in Poland. Not Europe. Maybe the new code is different noi doubt it. Hope this helps

Friends just arrived in Italy. Went through the set up , still working perfectly.
My only question is how to enable data switching on iPhone 12. Have toggled allow data switching however boost will not pick up the data from flex ,any ideas? One more hint That cost me ( I should be fired from ozbargain) . If you want to add a pack to say ring Australia then go through the roaming button not the international calls button as the latter assumes you are making international calls out of Poland, when of course you are in the EU. Donated some money…

  • Looks like this may be an option for my daughters phone, heading off soon and last time we got an in store Virgin sim in Rome for about $38eu which had 13g for a month of travel, that was probably $50 at the time but with current exchange rates is fairly pricey now.

  • Another tip. After leaving italy and entering France nothing would work. Only half of the app would show and couldn’t connect to wifi . My friends phones next to me worked fine both iPhones 12. After back and forth to chat via friends hotspot had to reinstall the Esim as it only worked in my first country. My Esim was either partially loaded or faulty. Was going crazy checking settings

  • +1

Still working as of Monday, activated in Berlin. In my experience, play around with the roaming network operator as the autopicked o2 was very slow. Switched to Vodafone and it's been as normal

    • I agree - I often have to enable / disable mobile data to get it to pick up the network again. Still working very well and with 5G in some areas.

  • I got it activated on my mum's iphone here for her Europe trip in a couple of days.
Can someone enlighten on the steps required when you land?

  • Is there anything special to do in order to get this working in Europe and the UK?

  • As at September 2023, can we choose any of the GB plans to pair with this promo? The OP talks about a 11GB data pack, but in the app now I see a choice of: 30GB, 45GB, 80GB, 150GB plans.

I will choose the lowest plan - don't need a huge amount of data - but could be useful for others than want to use their phone as a mobile hotspot for data-intensive activities.

    • +1

The plans in the app are for Poland only. There should be a smaller print saying how much you get while roaming in the EU. ie, the 150 plan, gives you 150gb of data within poland, but only 15 gig of data to use throughout the rest of the EU.

  • +1

Thanks OP for this post! We used this deal for my mother-in-law who is currently in Europe at the moment. It is working a treat. She has a iPhone XR, we activated the eSim 2 days before she left. The process not too complicated as all she had to do was turn off the Mobile data for the primary sim (her physical Australia sim) and turn on the eSim and data roaming on the eSim when she arrived in Europe. The only country she could not use it was in Bosnia so far.

  • Traveling through southern Italy and the four of us have it/ use it. Works great, can call each other , the 15 gig is great for maps when driving. Using boost / wifi calling to call back to Australia and Flex for calls around here.

  • +1

Thanks for sharing this deal! Just travelled from London (bought an additional 1gb roaming pack) and now in Barcelona and it works great! I'm also on Boost so not having to swap out sims makes it much simpler.

    • Hi, how long before going did you start the process? We are off to Italy to see my family in December and hoping this amazing deal still works! We are going to stay over a month so planning on get first month and then a second one for the week (it seems to work out cheaper than other esim plans). Thanks

      • +1

Started it the day before we left however our friends waited until they landed and set it up in Rome. Either way works. I had a little trouble with the eSIM and had to reload it in Italy, but this seems to be a one off as others have loaded it in Australia and had no problems by reading the reviews posted

      • I'm in Rome now actually and it's still working well. I'm in Europe for about 3 weeks so wasn't too worried about running out of days so I activated it at my home airport just before I flew out. I signed up a few days before my trip but I think it's best not to do it too far in advance based on other comments. I then turned off the esim in my sim manager until I landed in Europe and then also turned on data switching.

    • Could you share how much it is for roaming in London please?

  • Judging from the recent comments, I guess the code is still working.

  • Worked for me a month ago. Tried again with a new passport and the code isn’t accepted anymore.

  • +1

Travel to Europe next week, tried this morning, code still work! Such a great deal, thanks OP!

  • Just tried, code still working

  • Does this eSIM get generated as a QR code? Trying to see if I can do this for my dad (who is not in the same country as me)

  • Hi all, if I activate on the 80pl can I later downgrade the second month to 30 pl? I’ll be in Italy from 20th December until 28th January so I’ll need the extra 8 days.

    Edit:
According to terms and conditions you can which is wonderful :)

    • +1

Yes did that myself easy to do via the app. Just took the least plan for the last bit of our trip

  • Used this yesterday on a new account & it worked. I need three SIM cards & couldn't find a way to add another eSIM plan to the account (managing physical SIMs only for subsequent plans; not another eSIM to the same plan).

So, I started another account using another email address but the same passport verification. The second account isn't allowing me to use the FLEX code. Not sure if this is because the system knows it's me again, or whether the code expired between yesterday & today.

    • Code only works for one person (passport is what they use to identify you).

      • +1

Yes. We needed three phones. What I’ve discovered is that I can start three different account & have esims with each. The discounted code only works for one account. The others pay full price, which isn’t too expensive anyway. Note that voice and sms don’t work outside of Poland. Data only.

While you can have multiple esims connected to one plan on one account, the additional esims only work within Poland so aren’t particularly useful.

You can also have multiple plans on one account, but the additional plans have to be physical sims. A bit difficult to do from Australia.

  • Might be a dumb question, once we've activated the plan we need to turn on data roaming in our phone settings to make this work in EU right?

  • Hi all, I had started the activation too early (4 weeks ago). I got a message saying that if I didn’t activate by tomorrow I would loose the plan (and I had already put code!) So rather than loosing it I decided to activate now (just over a week before I arrive in Europe). Anyway I added a card (with only $1 on it) and then clicked activate from here in Australia and it has worked! I have a polish number and all details and over 15gb for Europe. Of course I’m not clicking roaming or anything like that but it seems that the plan has started which is fabulous. I was charged 1pln twice but apparently they’ll refund one as it’s done for verification.
So don’t start the plan process if your trip is more than 4 weeks away.

Quick review after having used this in EU for the past couple of weeks. I also bought this $30 SIM card from TravelKon that uses 3 Network for my other phone that has no eSIM capacity.

Countries visited - Austria, Czech Republic and Hungary. 3 Network were faster and more stable than Orange in all countries, but not by much difference. There were also a few spots in CZ where Orange was faster. In general, the coverage was just poor for both options in CZ even in metro areas. Most times I was getting only 3G or EDGE.

I'd go with Orange for sure for future visits as it's much cheaper than other options and don't think the speed difference is enough to justify the price difference.

  • Review after 2 weeks in Croatia, Slovenia & Italy. It appears that all traffic using this SIM card gets routed via Poland, as websites seemed to think I was in Poland. Worked okay in Croatia & Slovenia, but was a shocker in Italy. Almost as good as not having a network at times, despite having full 5G reception bars. Must have been the routing via Poland. Also, voice & SMS was intermittently working, often not letting me through & sending me a text saying I had to buy a roaming package despite this eSIM already having all this supposedly included (worked intermittently). Overall, I would not use this again.

    • +1

Totally agree, just used through Germany and France. Wife had a 3 network 70 country sim and I had the Orange. I was always having trouble with connection and speed (tried manually selecting network/reboot), hers was just rock solid (both using new Pixel phones). I ended up just hotspotting off her phone. I definitely wouldn't use again. Not worth the frustration for the saving.

  • Anyone used this in UK too? With or without buying an additional pack?

    • Doesn’t work in the UK. It is not currently in the EU.

  • Currently using in Italy, works ok. Does anyone know if when I downgrade to 30PLN for another month if existing data rolls over? Thanks

  • I set up for my missus halfway during our trip and cancelled once we arrived back in Aus. Was about 7 days and 2GB used. And I got a refund because apparently we haven't used enough lol.

    • You got a refund for cancelling within 2 weeks.

  • If I terminate the plan to avoid paying for the next month, can I reactivate it again sometime in the future?

  • Can confirm that this deal still works as at late January 2024.

    • Excellent - off to Europe soonish, beats mucking around with the 1 gig promo esim deals.

  • Does anyone know if this is once use only? I mean, would it work this year if used it last year?
