I'm now ready to upgrade from kmart towels to something comfier and nicer, but my god some are so expensive. Keen to hear what towels my fellow ozbargainers would recommend?

Just go for the premium target towels, i find they do the job well.
I got the huge target premium towels and they work great. Couldn't go back to regular towels anymore.
Costco had some nice ones when I went there yesterday. 5 for $60, they were of the quality that you get in a nice hotel

If you're taller than average, switch to bath sheets. Places like pillow talk are good and often have specials.
All well and good if they fit on your towel rails.

600 and above is pretty nice IMOI got some decent 600 GSM ones from costco for about $19 each IIRC
