Personally after using wifi 6, I can't recommend it highly enough. If you can shell some extra and your internet is good speed, go for the 6 otherwise this is not a bad deal.

    • wifi 6 ax … is very short range right ?

      weaker than 5ghz ?

      • No it's the new technology, supports both 2.4 and 5, faster too

        This is wifi5

        • I don’t think residential nbn speeds will be able to make use of wifi6 capabilities. Wifi 6 is also very short range

          • @abc123asd: Yeah fair. I am on a gigabit plan to defs see the difference

    I have this.
    Suits my OzBargain needs easily.

  • Any recommendations for a good wifi 6 modem and router? Battling to find anything

    • Optus seem to have exclusivity on the only good wifi 6 modem/router in aus https://www.optus.com.au/broadband-nbn/gaming-internet-plans I had to bite the bullet and just bridge a cheap vdsl modem and get a wifi 6 router.

      • Im in the same situation, after a decent wifi 6 modem router as on FTTN. Plenty of good wifi 6 routers around, just cant find a simple VSDL modem. Moardiscount, what did you get or recommend for a vdsl modem ?

I bought a tp-link archer vr1600v which has a broadcom modem chipset. Set the tp-link to bridge mode for internet, then disable dhcp lan, disable wifi. Connect LAN 1 port of tp-link to WAN port of router. Router setup takes care of the rest.

      • Cheers for this. Looks like Amazon stocks it so no lock in and nearly $180 cheaper ASUS RT-AX82U 5400 Dual Band + Wi-Fi 6 Gaming Router,PS5 Compatible,up to 2000 sq ft & 30+ devices,Mobile Game Mode, ASUS AURA RGB,Lifetime Free Internet Security,Mesh Wi-Fi support, gaming port, black

        • Make sure you want a modem/router or just a router though.

          • @moardiscount: Yeah I was a little confused but the pic seems to show WAN connection which I thought connects as modem…could be dodge pic?

            • @Eyetie: ASUS RT-AX82U is a router only

              • @wad88: Cheers everyone….seems that optus deal is the way to go.

My timing sucks - my ASUS just shipped from Amazon. Would have got this instead. If this can mesh with the ASUS I could make a case for getting this as well. Is it possible ?

  • Hey guys, just wondering if this router is better than my TPlink archer VR400 AC1200 or they are about the same

    • This is better, but if u are upgrading try for the 6 or 6e

      • thanks bro, but my NBN is only 100mbps, is that still worthy to upgrade to 6 or 6e
