ShopBack provided an Invalid Amazon.com.au Gift Card

As per description, bought a $100 amazon gift card a couple of hours ago. Tried adding it to my amazon balance - "invalid", tried a trial purchase and put the number in during checkout - "invalid".

Of course there is no support now and I just clawed my way through the awful chatbot support to submit a ticket but its 1-2 days to respond.

I want to use my gift card now! Not in a few days time. Why would anyone use them if you can't trust them to issue a working gift card? Is there anyone on here providing support?

  • Did you buy amazon au GC or amazon GC?

Or was it a super swap?

    • amazon.com.au, as per the title

OP expects things to work like instant money transfers that are instant after a while… "couple of hours ago"…

Pardon me for expecting an instant egift card to work when it is delivered. Sheesh.

Sill waiting for the second hoyts egift voucher from 25 hours ago…

That's annoying too but its a different scenario.

In either case it's not meeting their blurb on here:

          https://www.shopback.com.au/gift-cards#5f8cf47af7574d94ecfcc…

"The best part about gift cards is their lengthy expiry which means recipients have the flexibility to choose when they want to redeem them. They can redeem right away, or hold off until the sale season for maximum savings! A win-win for both new and savvy online shoppers."

        • waiting for the second hoyts egift voucher

          Same here.

      • Amazon Gift Card is indeed an instant gift card. Do you check balance history to see if that gift card was activated already? Or else try again in few hours, though this never happen to me

        • As per my original post, I did.

Is this your first purchase of an Amazon gift card via shopback?

I've easily bought over $1k in Amazon gift cards via Shopback over time and never had one fail on me before.

  • Did you try removing the dashes and only put in the numbers?

    • Yeah, no luck unfortunately.

Hahaha… another one… How the (fropanity) does ShopBack just not get perma-banned? Another day hour, another thread. It’s like Groundhog Day.

It’s fine though, they are giving $5 vouchers away to try and take focus off the latest ShitBack posts.

  • I would type in the values manually. I've sold Amazon GCS before and been accused of scamming when they copy paste it in, to then work after manually typing it. Some weird font stuff

  • It has eventually worked today. Not sure I'd ever trust them again after this though.

Good to hear. I have bought around 20 gift cards for the last year, this has only happened once but was resolved after a few hours, I reckon is actually the vendor's internal system and shopback.

      • Hopefully not all with Shopback? Macquire has been great and they give out 3% and you can buy specific amount you want and more than $1k at a time.

    • Is there anyone on here providing support?

I'm confused, you know I'm here?

Having a slight delay with a single Gift Card's validation isn't something I'd argue losing trust over.
These Gift Cards are automatically purchased at the time you place your order, we don't have the stock sitting in our systems at any time.
We rely on the provider validating these cards, I'm not 100% sure why yours had a slight delay but I'm glad it's all sorted now.

  • TIL you can get cashback from Amazon.. lol..

And you get get a 2% rebate/cashback using giftcards.

Wish I found out ages ago.

  • This might be helpful for you - copying and pasting the code from the Amazon.com.au gift card PDF gave me an invalid gift card error on redemption, but I was able to successfully redeem it by typing the code manually without hyphens.
