What is with all these laptops and crappy res screens

    • I agree that the screens are bad but we're talking 62.5% srgb and you're worried about seeing pixels on Full HD? Worry about it rendering everything as a dull oil painting.

  • note this is the 2021 model :)

  • if interested in 2022 model .. https://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/asus-tuf-gaming-a15-1… for $1800

    • Though the GPU is a 3060 in your post

  • This is the first time i'm considering a Macbook Pro. So many windows laptops, perhaps too many to consider.

    • At these price points, these are no brainers. But MBP has its own advantages as to battery life and compilation speeds.

      • Though the huge 90wH battery and power efficient AMD Ryzen CPU in this laptop do provide good battery life. 3rd party reviews indicate that the 16" pro can provide up to 15hrs of productivity. The A15 gets about 12hrs battery life for productivity, based on 3rd party reviews, and you can play the latest AAA games with the 3070. Just depends on your needs.

        • Problem is these laptops slow down significantly when on battery. MBP does not. I borrowed a 13" MBP 8GB M1 for testing from office. When i started battery was 100%. I set up my entire office workspace setup downloaded and installed tons of software. Ran many benchmarks. Cheked out and compiled my projects all twice as fast as my 16" 2019 intel MBP (16 GB Ram). And at the end of all these tests, the 13" M1 was Cold to touch and fans never turned on the whole 3.5 hours as I used and benchmarked it. And after that, there was 85% battery remaining. My 16" intel mbp battery would be dead if I loaded it for 3.5 hours.

On the contrary, my intel MBP fans spun up just for compiling one silly project and battery dropped few percent. Only after these tests I believed in the power of M1. Else iam an x86 gaming freak ;)

Also I do not suggest 8GB Macs. The swap had significantly eaten into the SSD life even though previous person who used it was a non technical manager.

    With the Alienware M15 R5 Gaming Laptop AMD Ryzen 7 5800H 16GB RAM 512GB SSD RTX 3070 for $1,899.04, I wouldn't consider this as a better deal
