Looking for a New Mattress

Hello,
I'm looking for a queen sized mattress for my new house. Preferably in plush since I sleep on my sides.
What are the recommended mattresses or stores I should be looking at to buy right now?

    Sealy Posturepedic

    • Thanks. Do you know how they compare vs King Koil for example?

I've only ever used Sealy Posturepedic… No reason to change.

i dont remember you were Looking for a new Mistress

    • He needs a new mattress for his new mistress.

      • I read it as, he needs a new mistress for his new mattress.

I've heard that sleeping on a Sealy Posturepedic can do that to you.

  • Koala

  • Bought this one recently, bargain hard $1,900
    https://www.fortywinks.com.au/products/bedding/chiro-perform…

It's very comfortable and less partner movement than sealy

    Compare to
    https://bedsaustralia.com.au/product/king-koil-verona-mattre…

    Infused memory foam
Use this to compare between names if essentially the same bed

4 drawer split queen base around $1,500

    Good luck

    • Thanks for the tips. Do you know if harvey norman or forty winks has better springs for King Koil? Both their reps say theirs is better

      • Not sure, I think it's more about type, whether they have micro coils etc…
Usually each bed brand has 4 or so models, check the specs will help you compare.
I would avoid Harvey Norman except for testing

Ah yes, the highly transparent world of mattress shopping…

We found OMF and Sleeping Giant to be the least painful places to try all the different mattresses. i.e. no creepy salesperson watching over you as you lay down on the mattresses.

    Hard rubbish day

    • I can smell that mattress from here.

go to stores, try them out. dont feel pressured. theyll offer you their 'best price' as you walk out the door. $2k should be plenty including a base. if you're not THAT fussy (i know i'm not), just get one delivered, like a koala or similar. they have free returns (but you do have to wrap the mattress up so it's not worth it unless you absolutely hate it)

I second visiting a store. We got recommended a few brands that we didn't end up liking when we tried them. Plush to one company can be totally different to another.

Partner has a 10+ year old Sealy that still feels brand new. I got a standard Ikea mattress that's holding up well after 7 years, but sleeping on that Sealy is like sleeping in a cloud. It's the nicest mattress I've ever slept on.

Went through this recently, as wife is pretty particular about the bed and had to try instore.

We ended up buying from Freedom who seem to have 40-50% off their beds all the time. I can't remember the model name, but we got the firm in their top king-size pocket spring mattress for about $2200. Apparently the plush in that model is very popular as well.

    Memory foam lasts the longest

  • zzz atelier assured firm.. ~ $270 for a queen on ebay sales… excellent mattress

    • i think zzz is only good for airbnb or spare/guest rooms. I had to sell mine due to back ache.
Pain resolved with a proper mattress.

  • Pricey but Stonehenge Slumberland is excellent. It's ultrafirm.

Highly recommend them. Privately owned. Exceptional service. Quality product. Reasonable prices.
    Costco is another alternative tbh.

Hi. Make sure that if u r going to buy from one of the big thieving mattress companies that u do it in a sale as you will save 50%. Also if u can find a local mattress maker even better. See if they produce double sided ones as they will last 20yrs if u flip them regularly. Unfortunately most of the big companies only make single sided and u can only rotate them to lengthen their life.

  • An Emma mattress?
They are advertising that they won the Choice best mattress award for the past 2 years.
    Apparently made in Germany.

  • Check out Makin Matresses.
Australian made (except the latex), Australian owned and double sided.
The prices are the same all the time so none of those fake half price sales that the other places do.

We just got a 'natural comfort wool plush' queen bed.
They make their own bases too, we got a 4 drawer base that was cheaper and much better quality than we could find anywhere else.

I'd totally recommend them above all the big name brands and stores. Very professional service and great mattress.
