Original Coupon Deal

Noise cancelling wireless headphones – The perfect balance of quiet, comfort, and sound. Bose uses tiny mics to measure, compare, and react to outside noise, cancelling it with opposite signals.
High-fidelity audio – The TriPort acoustic architecture offers depth and fullness. Volume-optimized Active EQ maintains balanced performance at any volume, so bass stays consistent when turned down and the music remains clear when turned up.

Pros: bloody amazing noise cancellation, very light, nice fit. Paired to Macbook & iPhone at the same time, headphones switch between devices automatically. USB-C charging port.

Cons: you CAN'T turn noise cancellation OFF. You can just turn the Aware mode ON (ANC+mics giving you some idea of what's going on around). Next thing- mics can't handle the wind and will aggressively try to counter the noise, basically passing amplified wind sound into your ears. Very much like talking to someone who is at windy place on the phone. Even if you simply walk too fast down the quiet corridor. Thus making this model absolutely not suitable for outdoors (QC 35II is fine). Indoors, in front of the computer - amazing device, got one last month and can't be happier.

Thanks mate saved me a disappointed buy.

    • Only way to use without ANC or Aware mode is wired and switched off. effectively a pair of wired QC25's switched off.

But yeah for Bluetooth, not great at all for outdoors with wind, has become quite annoying. I bought the Bose frames tempo glasses for outdoor activities now, no possible interference of wind now haha

damn. Wanted headset to make calls outside as well. Have you used the sony ones?

      • Nope. Read a lot of neg reviews for Sony on reddit (big issues with condensation/humidity eroding the components inside the cups, destroying them in about a month of active usage, Sony denies warranty claims), decided to go with Bose. Use them in front of pc and very happy.

    • Do you own a Bose 700? Does it suffer the same issue?
      Thanks

Sorry, no idea. I suggest to check reddit, tons of feedback there.

      • software updates ruins the 700.

I should have waited… Paid $395 for mine 3 weeks back, absolutely loving it.

Definitely feels more comfortable than sony's for me due to the deep cans.

Sound was pretty flat but with the newly added eq, I managed to tune it to my liking.

imo downsides comparing to xm5 are shorter battery life, cannot turn of anc, feels cheap to the touch.

      feels cheap to the touch.

Bose be like: Hey, have you heard of the 700's

      Can't cannibalise their own markets.

      • tried the 700 beside the 45 in JBHiFi demo stand - I didn't like the 700 - specially for the extra cost

still happy with my 2 sets of QC35 - AFAIK pretty similar to the QC45

    • Definitely feels more comfortable than sony's for me due to the deep cans.

Is it more baked beans than tinned fish?

    • 'Definitely feels more comfortable than sony's for me due to the deep cans'

yeah the SONY hurt my big ears pressing on the shallow cups

that's painful as hell after a few hours

I'm amazed they're still charging this much for a 2 generation old headphone.

The newer and better 700's were cheaper before

    • +7

The QC45 is newer than the 700 and is less than a year old.

      • +1

Ahh i get it now, confused with the QC35ii

Still i'm amazed they'd recycle the old design.
2 steps forward 1 step back.

Personally, I passed on previous deals for the 700s because I prefer the design of the QC35/45s.

          • @eecan: The 700s are also nowhere near as comfortable to wear for long periods of time as these are

        • +1

Same; was under the impression that this was that 35ii model, was trying to figure out how this price was a deal lol.

Ran over these with my car and still work a charm. Would recommend to anyone prone to running over their personal belongings.

I hate it when people run off with my headphones. Hopefully you avoided any bloodstains on the soft pleather

      Capitalism at its finest

  • was going to comment on the cost but then remembered how much airpods cost

    goooood valueeeee i guesssss

    • +1

Cheap keyboards are just as goooood as the expensiveeeee onesssss

  • IMHO Sony XM series gives better quality sound and better NC as well (arguably better built quality too). But they're a tad more expensive (worth the extra again IMHO). For someone who prefers flatter sound perhaps Bose would make sense. In my case, I absolutely love Sony's sound and when I tried my mate's Bose 35ii along with my Sony XM3, I was pleasantly surprised how different they sound. But I guess unless you do side by side comparison, that wouldn't make a big difference. They both are very nice devices, and of course there are so many people out there who hate Sony's bass heavy approach.

    • QC45 now comes with eq anyway, you can tune it to your liking, so sound isnt really a big issue anymore.
