Better off looking to Aliexpress or something to get a TIP SE. Brighter, larger battery, cheaper.

Much larger though. If you plan on using it as a keyring light it doesn't disappear into a pocket quite as easily.

I was tossing up between the tini 2 and the Tip SE when I was looking for a keyring light, and the size was what swayed me.

You should also keep in mind what the lights are capable of. Yes, the Tip SE has 700lm turbo mode, but the sustainable high mode is only 180lm compared to the Tini 2's 200lm. The Tini 2 also has 1lm, 15lm, and 65lm modes, in comparison to the Tip SE's 1lm and 30lm, so if you're careful you will get better battery life from the Tini because you have a few extra light levels between low and turbo, so you don't have to choose between "slightly too dark" and the high mode. The Tiny 2's 200lm mode also is rated to 56m of throw, compared to the Tip SE's 45m in 180lm mode.

Also (and this is directly from Nitecore so you know, grain of salt) apparently the Tini 2 has better power management than the Tip SE. At 1 lumen the Tip SE is stated to last 50 hours, but the Tini 2 despite the smaller battery is rated to last 60 hours. I'm not sure exactly why since they both use the same LEDs, all I can think is that less energy is lost by the control board.

    • You mean this one?

But imho, tini 2 looks better

      • It’s like 35 from AliExpress but yes.

280 mAh battery capacity is pretty bad. You could get something better in a traditional flashlight form factor on aliexpress for less than $30 eg convoy, sofirn, lumintop, wurkkos.

That's… Not what this is for. This thing is a keyring torch. It's barely bigger than a Bic Mini lighter. If you want a full size torch obviously it'd be better and cheaper, but also not something you can really hang from your keys and forget about entirely until you need a torch.

Tiny 280mah lipo cell vs an 18650 with 4000mah? C'mon let's be real.

I say why stop there, go one up in size and get a soda can flashlight with 4x XHP50 @10000 lumens

      • My heart says yes but my brain says no to a white Mankerlight MK38

  • Paid $38 all up for the Nitecore TIP SE 700lumens 500mah on aliexpress

I have a couple of these for my keys and they work really well. You don't even notice it's there. It has a smaller footprint than my garage door opener. Super handy to have when you need more light than a phone LED can provide.

    • This.

I use my phone at work when visibility is low.

I am hoping I can find one I can just hang out of my cargo pockets and it act more like a lantern so I don't have to keep pointing it at objects m

I love Nitecore. They make great products. If you are into EDC also check out this brand: https://www.rovyvon.com/collections/new-release

I’ve got one of these. It’s way more helpful than I expected. Super well made, sensible interface and no issues with the battery life.

People comparing it to a normal torch are missing the point.

Also got one of these, its perfect for a keychain light and pumps out a good amount of light!. Love it

Was also tossing up between this one and the TIP but glad I went with this one

Do I really need another edc?

Hoping the next tip gets upgraded with this oled screen

Still on nitecore tube for keyring torch, never really needed anything heavier brighter pricier than that on my keyring. I also have the ones from olights promotion and haven’t really used them yet

    • how do the Olights compare? They're obviously a different shape and a little less powerful, but I do love their super compact size. But if you don't really notice much difference in pocketability etc, this Nitecore looks quite attractive.

  • I got the previous version of the tini 2. It's small and good to have on the keyring. Always wanting to buy tini 2 but at $51 it's still a bit pricy for me. I would have gotten it if I don't already have the previous version.

  • Does this work in high mode while charging?

  • I have had the the original tini for a few years and decided to upgrde and it broke on the lens cover after daily abuse, and got the tini 2. Although it is a little bit larger, the extra output does help and the led screen is excellent letting you know exactly how much battery is remaining. And usb c is just like icing on top. Highly recomend it.

On a side note, I carry a Lumintop GT Nano for throw (300m) and this tini 2 for flood. Excelent combo. Little bulgy but covered for everything. Never leave home without them.

I say get a few more, hold them between your fingers like wolverine's claws. Light hands!

  • I've got this little thing. Been using it on a daily basis. Pretty handy and bright.

I have all the Nitecore TIP and Tiny range, and they are great torches. But if you want an awesome cheap torch it's hard to go past these for $19.99 https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B096XXFS3B/

I've even had mine go through the washing machine and dryer and come out working.

    • What's the battery life like.. How long can it run between charges?

      • Good question, the specs say:

        Main LED: High: 2H, 300lm/Medium: 130min, 87lm/Low: <4H, 25lm/Eco: 32H, 2lm Side LED: White light: 133min/Flashing white light: 112min/UV light: 90min/Red light: 125min-Flashing Red Light: 140min/Red and blue flashing alternately: 160min(Brightness: 50lm)

Being on 2 sets of car keys i only use it for short periods to see locks and things. And i always charge them before they are flat along with all my other torches when they need charging. But i don't doubt their runtime figures.

        • Nice so at least 2 hours no matter what light you put it on that is just what I need between charges.

Very tempted to get this but at $51 I will definitely feel anxious carrying this with my set of keys because losing it won't be the same as losing another $10-20 keychain light.

But this is regarded as the best or near the best keychain light I think it's brother the nitecore tip se is the only other real competitor unless you go crazy and get the t4k but that's like double the price.

oh god another tiny nitecore to add to the collection.

had the first tini in a copper finish…used it for skateboarding at night since it was so small and mighty bright.
