The device itself is crazy when you compare most of the market. B&O ANC is garbo.
With any luck you'll only have to pay $200 for something like this soon.
What's up on the horizon? Presumably you're thinking of wireless as you mention the ANC, which isn't available on the wired ones.
I was actually wanting the wired ones myself. Wireless is nice, but, they're stupid expensive and reviews have the combo with GameDAC 2 sounding significantly better.
Actual audio brands are on the horizon thanks to LC3 Plus low latency.
In terms of who'd be doing the best for closed backs with little effort using that tech when it hits the market, the answer is AKG (using the K371 as a base) Audeze (using the Penrose), Sennheiser (using the HD25), and Shure (using the SRH-840 or SRH-840a).
In time, Sennheiser's newly re-shaped consumer division should start spitting out better over-ear closed backs, but I'd imagine that's at least a year away.
