Hi all,

Recently purchased one of these from Amazon for $81 and having checked back tonight the price has dropped just a tad.

Worth posting for those of you that would like to snap one up at this reasonable price with delivery included.
Bunnings appear to have the same price but none available on the West Coast.

Also worth noting are the 1m Extensions as these are currently $19 @ Officeworks if you're lucky to have stock available in your area; https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/lifx-smart…

Don't forget to use discounted gift cards as this item most likely doesn't qualify for cashback.

Further possible $5 discount by working this popular deal beforehand; https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/710555

  • Are these better than xiaomi once?

Not just once — every time

    • Is the yeelight strips u mean? It's horrible, single color zone, the app couldn't connect with the light strips. Just bought this

I have opposite experience with KanT, my worked perfectly for >3 years, no issues, and fraction of the price

Mine is 5 year old and still going strong.

  • Got these yesterday, they don't seem compatible with scenes made with using the older version of the light strip and ended up overwriting mine which was pretty annoying.

Understand I'm a minority but can't get home assistant to address each zone either, something I'll need to look up on and old app but maxlixz is not compatible with these newer ones

  • They've been this price since the start of July. I ordered 2, and received delivery the next day.

  • Bought these thinking they’d be the brightest and best, and importantly have consistent colour with other LIFX. The colours do not match the rest of the LIFX bulbs in my case. This really bothers my ocd. Keep in mind these use a proprietary connectors where the 4th pin is spaced differently, meaning many extensions, cables, and connectors don’t fit. LIFX don’t sell them, and if you use a third party one, it will void your warranty. So unless you plan to use it in a fairly straightforward way (tv/desk), I would avoid. I returned a few because I wanted to use them under my kitchen cabinets, but didn’t want to drill a huge 10mm hole when it’s unnecessary. I planned to run a 4mm wire through and add a connector under the cabinet, but you can’t (unless you’re willing to splice an extension into the original cable). I think Twinkly and others might be the way to go for me. Will research carefully next time!

  • Much better off getting "dumb" led strips with whatever configuration of LEDs (RGB, cool white, warm white) and trace layout (addressable vs all in series) you're after, and then getting a smart controller that interfaces with whatever ecosystem you use (e.g. ESPHome/Tasmota for wifi control with Home Assistant, Zigbee, ZWave, etc). Ends up being much cheaper and makes it easy to add new strips or swap them out if you don't like the colours/if they die. athom.tech has some good controllers pre-flashed with ESPHome/Tasmota for use with Home Assistant, and dumb LED strips are cheap and abundant on aliexpress (a couple here).

  • Do these link up ok with the previous generation LIFX led strips (in terms of connection, not worried about scenes etc)?

Had one on a cabinet that was about 30cm short and never got around to buying a 1m extension to finish the job - and now the previous gen are unavailable.

    • They’re all the same as far as I’m aware. Only difference is the newer controller supports Apple HomeKit
