JB Hi-Fi Swap Anytime Plan Worth It?

I'm thinking of getting the s22 ultra on the deals they have this weekend. They offer for an extra $100 that you can get some kind of protection plan that will let you get the screen fixed etc, but it also says you can pay $250 to trade in for a newer model.

Does anyone have any experience with what kind of value they offer on the trade in? Is it actually worth it if I might want a z fold 4 in a few months?

  • Nope but have a weblink to this swap deal?

Really depends on the conditions of tjus deal I'm guessing if worth it but interesting to investigate, thanks OP 👍😁

Edit: let's see if Google finds any info

Yupz here it is seems to be similiar to Samsungs similiar monthly extra protection/insurance plan were one pays extra for each service on top of monthly subscription of $12.99, so screen replacement has a service fee of $45,.. New Phone Service Fee is $249,..
    Refurbished Phone Service Fee $149

Mobile Extras 12 month plan features*,.
can trade-in your existing phone and upgrade to a newer model at any time

Doesn't say much else guess one needs to speak to a sales rep in-store

I'm guessing this kicks in when you purchase with a new phone of there's and stay on this subscription even though there is no contracts

Be more worth I guess the more expensive model the mobile is on your first new mobile purchase, like a say Samsung Fold/Ultra costing over $2k or more

    Say upgrade in one year

    Annual subscription $99
    New phone service fee $249
Am I missing any other fees
So $348 total to get a newer phone????
A $2k new phone doesn't drop more then half in value in one year but say it does
    What ones ahead $1000 - $348
    $652

What the heck I'm missing here too good deal to be true, lolz

Help by anyone in my maths and way I'm approaching this would be awesome 👌

Edit: Ok you don't get to keep your original mobile does that matter? To earlybin the morning lol, think the fact one has out laid so much originally for there mobile is were the big savings come in, I guess one needs to keep there original phone longer to say this wouldn't be a deal say 4 years,.. $2000 / 4 years,.. nope that's $500 a year this deal is still better, maybe instead getting a new mobile annually do it every 2x years,.. so 2x $99 + $249 = $447 / 2 years = $223 per year,.. $18.59 per month

  • but it also says you can pay $250 to trade in for a newer model.

No it doesn't, it clearly says "like for like"

With JB Hi-Fi Mobile Extras, you can swap your mobile phone at any time for any reason. Choose from a like-for-like brand new or refurbished phone, subject to payment of a low flat service fee.†

  • like-for-like brand new

Well can mean anything,.. does like-for-like "model", so only for same newer model? it states brand new so it should be brand new

Edit: One spot in details states to similiar to what you said, a brand new like-for-like replacement whatever thart means

receive a brand new like-for-like replacement, subject to payment of a service fee. Customers with devices costing $500 or above can also choose to receive a refurbished phone, in which case a lower service fee with apply

    And this,..

With JB Hi-Fi Mobile Extras, you can trade-in your existing phone and upgrade to a newer model at any time. You’ll get a trade-in credit for your existing phone that you can apply to the purchase of your new phone from JB Hi-Fi.

    Important "newer model"

But what the heck is this?

You’ll get a trade-in credit for your existing phone that you can apply to the purchase of your new phone from JB Hi-Fi.

Edit: Actually above is to trade-in your existing phone

Though best go in-store and speak to someone just to be on safe side 👍😁🤣

  • Surely “like for like brand new” means a new phone that is the same make, model and configuration as the other one.

So if you buy a 256Gb iPhone 13, then that’s what you’ll get back if you pay the $249.

  • Bit of an older post, but I've had experience with this recently, so her goes… It depends on what you're after.

I ride mountain bikes and crash every once in a while. Occasionally, that means the phone gets smashed too.

I have had 2 replacements for late model Google Pixels (6 and 7) over the past year, for the cost of $150 (refurbished for $149 and another for $1 as they couldn't handle a request I made for brand new). No issues at all, and to me, that made it worth it.

The actual waiting time, and finding a temporary replacement, as well as the new phone setup was more of a hassle, to be honest. Your mileage may vary though, if you don't swap phones that often.
