Should I Buy a Used Google Pixel 4 XL for $250?

Would I be better off buying a used Google Pixel 4 XL* for $250?

Or a new phone within the same budget?

Like the Motorola G51 for $199?

Or maybe something else?

*It's worth noting the Pixel is from a friend and will have a new battery.

If it was me personally in that situation, I'd take the Pixel 4 XL. Good price, new battery (albeit the P4 line wasn't exactly praised for it's battery) and performance. I reckon the only thing Motorola has going for it is the 120Hz screen but that's just my take.

The software updates should have already ended for the Pixel 4 lineup (2 years from release of 2019, so 2021) so I would say the Motorola would be the better choice. I'm not sure if the Pixel 4 XL still gets security updates however.

4XL is an excellent phone. Facial recognition is good and the phone is a perfect size, not too large like the 6 pro or too small. I regret changing to the 6 pro.

I've owned both the 4 XL and 6 Pro, physically they're very close in size given the chins at the top and bottom on the 4 XL are taken over with the actual screen on the P6 Pro. The P6 Pro is wider but not by much.

Apart from that the P6 Pro was better in every way, battery life, speed, screen res etc I could go on and on. I never understood this sentiment but if you regret changing, why don't you sell your P6 Pro and buy an old P4 XL?

Yep, it's larger in width and height. Also, heavier. That is true, it has a better processor etc. But my biggest hate is the fingerprint scanner. It is absolute rubbish. Towards the end of the year, I'll move it on.
