  • Any 5% off

  • can you apply the extra 500 off for the s22 range for trade in

    • I would think so because the trade deal just gives you a gift card

      • Trade deal gives you a coupon only on s22, the actual trade in gives you a gift card that can be used on anything

        • S22 series right?

    • Could I trade my s20 Fe in to get $500 towards this?! :O

  • +2

Signed up for $69 for 12 months n get $750 off S22 ultra.

    • Wow, hope this is across the stores. Just wondering if this can be coupled with trade in offer coupon of $500?

      • Probs not because it's applied to the phone price (I believe JB initially absorbs the cost in their partnership with Telstra) and Telstra expects the full minimum plan cost to be paid.

        • +1

$1849 -$750= $1099, which is the cash to be paid. Would be awesome deal if $500 coupon from trade in was allowed to be used.

          • +1

@CheapGPT: May be u can use the $500 credit (voucher number/pin) but probably not the flip 3 voucher code.

            • @Bargain-er: Had a chat with JB Hifi team member, they said the $500 trade-in credit is now only on S22 (not plus & ultra), Z fold 3, Z Flip 3. They were ready to waive off $750 on S22 Ultra with $69/12 month plan though. Might just wait for new iPhone.

              • @CheapGPT: That's weird. Managed to stack $750 for the 12-month plan and the $500 trade-in credit. Also stacked the trade-in cash back. This was at JB Airport West. Brought down the price of the S22 Ultra 256GB significantly (~$650)

                • @giltyscorp: Thank you, I got it too! I applied the $500 trade in credit coupon for s22 ultra online, it reduced the price. I called the store and they said they will honor the trade-in coupon & value with this deal. Awesome deal S22 Ultra 128GB for $499!

      • if they are both coupon codes, then no, as the $500 trade in coupon states can't be used with any other coupon.

    • Keen, have you got any pics at all of the sign/flyer in the store?

      • +2

Unfortunately, no flyer. I was standing around the S22 stand and the sales guys surrounded me n told me $750 off if signing up for $69/12 months. It's jb hifi Northland.

    • How? Care to share?

  • How does the Motorola G51 stack up against the Edge 20 Fusion?

      • +1

The fusion on Jb Hifi is only 6GB RAM, not 8 though

        • +1

And this Moto G51 has 6GB RAM, not the 4GB in review

    • Is the Moto G51 dual sim too?

    • Moto G51 comes with slow charging, only 10W charger, poor photos in low light is a major complaint,… But is cheap 5G phone.

      • and mono speaker

        • Yes, I don't think I could go back to a mono speaker, 1080 videoing, & slow charging.

    • +2

Snapdragon processor in the G51, MediaTek in the Edge 20.

  • +2

Anyone using the moto g51? Thoughts? Seems decent value. 6gb ram.

  • I wish they would do $500 store credit for 12 months on Big T

  • Can you do over phone or in store only

  • Perks vouchers expire tonight I think.

    Do I grab a ps5 controller even though I don't have a console yet?

    • Cheapest I’ve seen with the use the Perks voucher

      • Agreed, just feels weird to buy a controller when I don't have a console.

        • +1

          Buy now, regret later :p

        • same, I bought one without ps5. hahaha……..

        • If you haven’t bought it yet from JB, Amazon has price matched it too at $75

          • +1

@BargainsGrabber: Yeah I held off and the perks voucher expires. So $10 more but it gets shipped

  • anyone using the eufy vac?

  • G51 looks like amazing value. $10 Perk voucher

  • +7

I won't neg someone who's put that much effort into a post, but it's really not a good deal with 24 months.

Basically paying $1656 over 2 years to get 1k off the full retail price of an S22 and then be locked in for 2 years.

Or to put it another way, you're paying full price for the s22 over 2 years, then getting a Telstra 100GB plan for $27.33 a month for 2 years.

I'd advise to wait for a better deal, 24 month contracts suck.

    • I agree. I grabbed my old S21 for $624 back in September during Telstra Day sale, and there was no 24 month contract attached.

    • true but if you can combine it with the $500 trade in bonus plus $10/$20 sim discount through Telstra chat, I would say it becomes quite a tempting deal

  • +1

Bought the g51 for the old man. Will be a good upgrade to his g4 play that he’s still using. Stacked with perk voucher too.

    • -3

I think the G50 is better

      • Probably. But it’s currently $399 and this was $189. Plus it’s for my old man who only really uses it for calls / whatsapp / basic browsing.

        • Yeh but it was $179.10 not too long ago. I bought that phone for my old man too and he uses it exactly what you mentioned calls / whatsapp / basic browsing.

          • -1

            @Homr: only 4GB ram for G50 though!

            • -2

              @moonster: oh yeh, doh'

Is there much performance difference between 4gb and 6gb for a phone? 6gb will be great for future proof

          • +2

@Homr: That’s fine. If I can go back in time then maybe I would have bought it. But oh well I’ll get him another upgrade in 5 years time.

          • +1

@Homr: Reviews say software is improved on G51 over G50.

  • How is the galaxy s21 compared to the a73 deal. Is the s21 much better for the price diff?

    • +2

S21 is faster, has more RAM, better camera, better screen quality.
I have just voted for S21 with my money…

      • Is the Exynos 2100 processor as good as the SD888?

        • We could debate that for hours. But if it isn't as good, it's very close.

  • Can Boost customers apply for the Telstra mobile plan?

    • nope

    • You can but you’ve to port out for 30 days before getting onto the JB Telstra deal

Otherwise there would be a risk of losing your current number if porting < 30 days

  • +1

Still waiting for an S21+ deal

  • Any possible choose galaxy Tab s8+ instead of galaxy s22?

    • Don’t think that’s possible. Telstra is absorbing the $1000 off any Samsung S22 in the hopes that they stay on the plan for 24 months

  • The S21 is unlocked right? I can use any telco?

  • tempted with g51, how bad is the camera?

  • anyone tried to get s22 with this deal and apply the $500 trade in credit?

    • +1

Worked for me. From the comments, does seem like this varies from store to store.

      • did you ask the jb attendant before signing up for the deal, or was this like during the end where you just said oh and I have a trade in credit as well

        • +2

I told them from the get-go that I wanted to stack the Telstra discount and trade-in credits. Wouldn't have gone ahead without that. They were okay with it and even allowed me to use their store computer to perform the trade-in. Received the $500 coupon and credit immediately which I then used at check out.

          • @giltyscorp: Would you mind me asking which store this was done at? Sounds like a friendly team =)

  • +1

S21 is a good deal , but HN deal was better with the $100 gift card …

  • The details suggest this model is 5G only? is this correct or can it also work on 4G networks?

    • +1

It is compatible with the 5G networks, means you can also receive 3G, 4G and 4GX

      • Well 4gx compatibility depends on the frequencies it supports, no?

        • -1

Isn’t 4GX depends on the network carrier?

          • +1

            @BargainsGrabber: It's just telstras name for it's 700mhz 4g band.

For the record, it looks like the G51 supports all of telstras 4g frequencies including 700mhz.

  • If we can't use the JB trade in bonus voucher of $500 in the previous deal this week, I wonder if it would be possible to try to price match from Amazon to lower the cost of the phone a little more?

Is Telstra offering the port in credit currently too? Has anyone attempted that as yet?

  • +3

    The S21 is sold out

  • can this be used with the Fold 3?

  • +1

    Ordered a G51. Thanks op.

It may be worth noting the blue version is available a the same price: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/motorola-g51-5g-128gb-ind…

  • What's the process for asking the live chat for the monthly credit/discount? At what stage do you contact telstra chat to ask?

  • Is G51 a better option considering my phone is currently on Android 9 Security Patch Level 1 Nov 2019?

    • Probably considering I'm assuming it's an old phone anyway.

      • It's an LG V30

  • Just an FYI of my own experience today for anyone having trouble combining deals. I managed to get this:

    $469 for S22 Ultra 512GB Black. 24 month contract $69/month 100GB data, unlimited calls, SMS & MMS.

    Breakdown:

    RRP of $2149
    - $180 Note 9 trade-in
    - $500 bonus trade-in
    - $1000 promotion
    = $469

  • Bought the g51 for the better battery over the G8+ I have already.
For $200 couldn't go past it , just to save on constant charging with the old one.
Ended up paying for extended warranty as I told them I was constantly hotspoting , killing phone bats and they convinced me it would be replaced if I killed this one this way.

    • Is the phone any good?

  • +1

Seems very good for the ($200) price, I wouldn't have bought it at ($400) full price though.
Having to charge my old g8+ 3-4 times a day even with solar and a deep cycle battery,
the purchase seemed to be maybe a smart choice.

    • Under warranty, complained to Lenovo about short battery life in G7+.
They checked & said it was up to spec. A short time after warranty ended, battery swelled up. Took photos - got complete overhaul with new battery.
Over a year later, use phone a lot & lasts all day. Carry a powerbank just in case, charges fast but rarely needed.

Considered the G51 for the low price, but some aspects like slow charging & mono speaker would be a downgrade.

      • It is supplied with a better charger in other markets , I think you could use a old charger for fast charging.
JB guy said they don't have the ability to check batteries , and would just replace if requested.
We'll see how this works through their warranty program if I kill it.

        • Tech Reviews said it doesn't have capability for fast charge. As with previous Moto models, phones with inbuilt fast charging circuits cost more.
The faster charging shows when appropriate charger is plugged in. My old G7+ shows "Turbo Charging", otherwise indicates slow charging.

Users report can take more than 5hrs to charge with the 10W charger.
Indian model has 20W charger - still small for 5000mAh battery.

(Got a 10W charger with my G4 Play long ago. 3 years ago, my G7+ came with a 27W charger. G7 had slower charging & less powerful charger - glad I bought the faster charging model. Those had much smaller battery capacity.)

If battery fails its a warranty job. JB could only send for repair.
Has to be factory reset & sent to Sydney. Takes many days from Qld.
Took a lot of convincing & 2 times in repair before battery was replaced.

You bought at half current price🎉

  • Motorola has released new Moto G62 5G at same RRP$399 as G51. Hence the price reduction.
