    Extremely slow but great price

I was just gonna say the same thing. 4Mb/s write on a 64Gb stick is horrid. 10Mb/s would be the bare minimum on such a stick.

Almost 4 and a half hours to fill the 64GB version, and almost 2 hours to read the data off it again!

      • Thats only if it runs at its max speed it maybe much slower

    • It's a bargain because it is slow

      • It will cost you more than the saving is worth in powering your PC waiting to fill this horribly slow POS drive.

I'm going to grab one as it's a great price

    4 mb/s write speed???

I'm not going to neg this because it is still technically a bargain - but that is just too slow for a 64GB drive.

For another $12 this one is much faster.

    • I need to buy a 32gb drive. Is it the cheapest place to buy?

      • For 32gb this ebay guy sells genuine Transcend.
I have bought from him before a few times and have tested the speeds. The Transcend 700 is USB 3.0 so is the fastest and most of the USB 2.0 ones write pretty fast(18mb/s - 19mb/s).

Still, the 64gb from mymemory.co.uk is great value for money and the speed is very nice.
That's the one I would buy.

But $35 for 64gig stick is amazing. I was looking through old receipts on the weekend and saw one when I bought a 128meg sd card. $310!!!!
I had to wait for them to be released in aust and 128 was the biggest you could get.

  • As a pointer - most people won't fill all of the 64GB at the same time? So doesn't that make the write speed kind of trivial unless you're storing a lot simultaneously.

    • say if you put a small file say 4 gig thats going to take 17 mins to copy that to the stick (again if it runs at its max speed)

      • agree with you, but love how we define 4 gig as "a small file" :)

  • I had to copy 7gb onto my 8gb USB stick last night, I get about 12mb write speed and that was painful enough… I can't imagine copying large files onto this thing.

Probably good for somebody who is using it as backup / moving around lots of smaller files.

  • Also the shipping from OzGameshop is pretty slow usually, since they are based in UK

  • It's the sort of thing you'd put several operating system installers onto, then a partition with apps. Because it'd be an all in one solution to install/repair a pc and once set up you'd only update a handfull of files at a time.

    • But the process of installing operations from this usb drive will still be pain-in-the-butt slow.

  • Just though I would post that I have this already.

Its writing at 8.15mbps as I type and has peaked at a little over 11mbps.

I am copying 24 gig to it and it says 45 minutes remaining.

    I will buy another one.

    edit

crap… they are out of stock already
