Can’t go wrong with a Philips air fryer.

    • +1

You can’t go wrong with a Phillips $400-600 air fryer, you mean. They’re the ones that top the reviews, not bare bones models like this one.

      • +1

I’ve had the basic models before and they did the job fine. My parents gifted us a slightly bigger model with removable tray in the pan and some accessories but honestly they all work the same. Digital capacitive buttons don’t make much difference to me either.

Is it good? Anyone used this?

    Same price at JB

I have this and it works perfectly fine. It's a little on the small side which is ok for my gf and I but would be too small for a family. Because it's so small it can mean that recipes that you find online you have to change the timing to suit the machine because it can be faster than most to warm up food. Also the controls are just twisting knobs. The timer can be hard to turn with greasy hands. But this is their budget option. Overall I'm just nit picking. I'm pretty happy with it. Putting in flash frozen stuff like pre-made hash browns they come out in 18mins and absolutely slap.

      • Can it fit 2 average size steaks you get from coles? Like the 200g porterhouse

        • +1

Not flat. you'd have to bend them and even then it would be a stretch. You could cut them up and they would fit in the basket but I am not sure why you'd want to do that.

          • @mwahahaha: Thanks for your input. Just ordered one. Looking forward to making some foods tomorrow when it arrives

    • JB is $129!

      • It was $99 yesterday to match/beat this prime deal. Looks like they increased prices today.

  • +3

Thanks, cheap enough to grab one for the office to have on my desk :D

    • +2

I wonder what size inverter I would need to run this on the passenger seat of my car.
Who needs maccas when I can just grab a few hashbrowns from the fridge and cook on my way to work.

      • Thats the way.

  • Compact

Perfect for cooking a chip or 2 potato gems

    • +1

      Haha it's not that small

I wish all the girls I've been with thought that

        • +4

We must be seeing the same girls.

  • It looks like they improved the basket design in the 0.8kg mkd. Instead of wire cable mesh previously, it is steel plate now. Can anyone confirm?

  • Is it too small? Than XXL. price difference is huge considering XXL.

    • +4

My wife says it is :')

      • +1

just do longer pre heating warm up time

    • +1

It is certainly small. Too small? Depends on your intended use. Great size for 1-2 people but not really for any more than that.
I've been very happy with mine, exactly the right size for my needs. Only thing I'd change are the twist controls vs digital.

  • Have this and perfect for snacks and small meals don't usually cook big portions of stuff

  • This or the Kmart one?

    • +1

Been using the Kmart one for about 3 years. Can't fault its performance. Noticed the LCD panel on top starting to lift a little now though but still kicking along.

  • Depends which one. The Anko 5.3L is bigger and probably a better size than this one for $90, but also has just two basic knobs, which makes exact cooking times and temp more difficult to set than digital air fryers. The Kmart dual basket model doesn’t rate too well on Choice. The Kogan air fryers are digital and a better buy.

  • Any remarks on Advwin 4L Air Fryer?

    • +1

No, sorry, but the Kogan branded and sold models have more reviews and comeback if something goes wrong. Choice rates the Kogan 6.2L and 5.2L models well but the 5.2L is no longer in stock.

  • +2

The reviews on this thing are poor, lots of complaints about the inaccuracy of the dials. Seems nothing like Philips higher end models.

    • Ah yeah $40 more for double capacity Instant Pot Vortex Plus might be the go ..

  • +1

Looks like it is stocked at the same price at JBhifi for those without prime
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/philips-essential-compact…

  • My first and only Air fryer. Its a good size for 1-2 servings. I think it looks better on the benchtop than most air fryers I've seen. The analogue dials leave a lot to be desired. Its fine as most things are cooked at 180 so I don't change it much.

  • bought 2 one year ago and use them frequently, the one defect is the inside size

    • … meaning it's too small? How many people?

      • -2

You'd be lucky to fit a premmy in there

  • hmm i didnt realise a lot of people felt these werent good. I have a kogan air fryer and just bought this a couple of hours ago when it came up… Was that a mistake?

  • I forgot to mention the dials are terrible apart from that it's quiet and decent a little small but for couple is fine

  • I went the Instant Pot Air Fryer, it's one of the highest rated. Cant justify the 300+ for the decent grade Philips.

  • Also worth considering with the 20% (up to $20) for today…
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Philips-Essential-Technology-HD927…

Sure it's $199 at JB and TGG etc, but with the $20 and free freight when its sooooo cold, worth considering. (Ok, and yes, sure, it's not the Black version and white is a little on the ugly side… but are you buying it to look at it or cook some food?)

    • Heyo what is the 20% (up to $20)

      • I think they were referring to the Amazon Cashback deal yesterday but said 20% instead of 14%.

        • Sorry! Correct… I wrote 20% and $20. Muppet moment on my part.

          $20/14% - yesterday…

  • +1

Now $99, no prime required. Seems they are price matching JB, who were initially beating Amazon by $0.95.

    • +1

Yep and also jb hi fi rrp says 129 so unsure if we should trust amazon rrp

      • Rrrp is normally 220

  • +2

I'm going to call mine Philip J Fry
