      Why is it not God?

Do you not worship it enough? Do you not offer it any sacrifices?

Who would trust choice reviews of technology?

      The product is not god.

Agreed. However for $175, it's IMHO the best value BT speaker when you take into account overall sound quality, battery life, portability, and general ruggedness.

This product is god. I have one.
It’s fit for my purpose which is listening to music around the pool.

  • I'm getting 'Get $10 off only on the Amazon mobile app. Enter code HAPPYDAY22 at checkout.' Has this been posted?

Waiting for next gen with USB C…

Gonna throw in this one as an alternative then https://mifo.com.au/products/sonitrek-go-xl-smart-bluetooth-…

      • Do you have this by any chance? I cant find enough information on the specs of the device.

        • +1

Yeah. What can I tell you? Is difficult to find the specs. I have a PDF of the (pretty shitty) manual: https://drive.google.com/file/d/19mFOhnaVGyl_2HCoaiuaHMc_scf…

Easily as loud as the comparable Logitech (from which it takes, umm, inspiration), excellent sound considering it's a portable speaker and not some audiophile headphones or whatever, everyone asks about it at picnics etc, USB-C, MicroSD slot, 3.5mm aux in, goes for hours, no dicking about with apps or whatever, consistently good reviews, feels really solid and rugged, not tested the waterproofness claims, excellent value. Unless you're going for one of the huge boombox style ones I'd recommend it. Maybe grab one from Amazon and return if you don't like it.

I am not associated with them.

  • This or Anker Soundcore motion plus?

    Any suggestions?

  • +3

    OKAY, IMA SPIT SOME FACTS.

I GOT THE BOOM 3 AND ABSOLUTELY HATE IT. THE SOUND IS MUFFLED, THE BASS IS LACKING AND THE STUPID ONLY BUTTON ON TOP STOPS WORKING AFTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS. THE CLICKINESS GETS JAMMED AND THEN YOU CAN'T TURN IT ON OR PAUSE/PLAY WITH THE BUTTON. THEY SENT ME A REPLACEMENT ONE AFTER MY 1ST DIED (GOT STUCK IN A LOOP) BUT NOW THAT ONE IS COOKED AS WELL.

I BOUGHT THE ANKER SOUNDCORE BOOST OFF AMAZON FOR HALF THE PRICE AND (profanity) ME IT IS 5 X BETTER THAN THIS ONE. THE ANKER HAS INCREDIBLE BASS FOR THE SIZE, LONG BATTERY LIFE, EXCELLENT SOUND, GOOD SHAPE (SO IT DOESN'T ROLL OVER WHILST IN MOTION) AND CAN ALSO BE USED AS AN EMERGENCY POWERBANK. IT ALSO CHARGES VIA USB-C AND LASTS FOREVER.

All that shouting… I feel like you dictated that text via the Megaboom on full volume!!! :-)

    • The Megaboom 3 sounds significantly better than the Boom3 (as you’d expect). Otherwise it’s an unremarkable speaker that is good if your friends also have them because being able to pair them all together easily is a great feature.

No USB-C at this point is very annoying though.

The UE Boom series with 360 degree sound are designed to give "a group of people surrounding the speaker" a consistent and equal listening experience.
A bit different from the Anker/JBL etc designs which are all designed with forward firing speakers.

Not so sure how useful the "pair them together" feature is, it only really works out if you and your mates all have the same speaker.

I have never owned a UE product since I think they are overpriced and they never really come down to bargain levels, but yes no USB-C is an annoying oversight which is a problem even on their most recent models.

One feature I know which is unique to UE speakers is you can turn the speaker on/off with the App, so I guess it saves you from remembering to turn it on since you are going to use your phone anyway to hit play on your music.

If you would like to get a tip for getting more out of your UE Boom speaker, I suggest placing it near a wall or on solid ground to get the bass to load up. Free standing space is a speakers worst enemy when it comes to bass and sounding "big". Putting any small speaker closer to a wall or any solid boundary will work wonders.
I know this works against the 360 degree design of the speaker, but in terms of making it sound larger it will help.
