Got one during last sale and it’s basically a brand new unit, has the seal over it and even smells new

    • you even smelled it?

      • I'm getting one just to smell it

  • Does this have to be used via an app?

      Yes.

In my experience the App makes your phone hot, which is not what you want for the battery in your expensive smartphone.

Not sure this kind of novelty device is worth it when eventually you just need to keep it charged as it gets less and less use and ends up in your drawer.

I can only see it being used by young folks who are travelling or budget film makers in which case I guess they could consider the phone they use is a "tool" just like another camera.

If you are thinking of getting it just to play around with I would avoid it.

    Interesting description
Looks like they have it mixed up with the OG mavic mini

  • I grabbed this not long ago. If the box didn’t say it was a refurb, I would have sworn it was brand new.

  • Grab one thanks. Keen to try it for the next holiday

          • @rictee: Thanks. It's a bit unfortunate that they haven't updated it to include info on S21 or S22, despite updating for iPhones that were launched post release.

On upside, the SE edition indicates compatibility for S21 Ultra, and I would expect cross-compatibility (https://dl.djicdn.com/downloads/DJI_OM_4_SE/DJI_OM_4_SE_Mobi…).

Looks like the S22 Ultra may not be supported though?

            • @bboT: Yeah I bought this planning to use it with the iPhone 13 pro which is not in the list. The list was last updated in July last year while the list for the SE was updated in March this year.

OM 4 and SE looks practically the same so can't see how the same phones wouldn't work on both. I suggest you compare the weight for S20 and the later models. If they fit in the supported weight & phone dimensions I don't see why they won't work… Only my 2c which is not proven though.

              • @rictee: True but re: the S22 I was referring to lack of software compatibility. Specifically it seems 4k recording is not supported by the DJI app. Although it might just affect 4k60, and can use the native camera app but not sure what compromises this involves.

I really doubt this will ever be updated further given even the latest OM5 doesn't fully support S22 and no estimates on when (if ever) it will be supported - recent thread from last month: https://forum.dji.com/thread-260768-1-1.html

@rictee: I have a 13 pro and it works. No issues at all.
