  • Can one put this in an A20?

    • +1

      External Memory Support
      MicroSD (Up to 512GB)

Samsung A20 page says up to 512gb. That's not saying you can't, just saying what has officially been tested.

      • Thanks! There's some ok deals on smaller sized cards through your link too.

        • +2

It should work regardless what the specs say. File system limit is 2TB on android

  • +5

Amazing this little thing can store 1TB
Is it OK to keep this plugged into my laptop's SD card slot to create an external drive with extra storage

    • +2

Yeah I am pretty impressed they can put 1TB into this, the size of your finger nail. Compare to 360kb discs on my C64 as a kid…

    • +6

Sd cards aren't as reliable as ssd memory. Keep a backup and sync it regularly- your files may get corrupted one day

      • +3

They also don't last as long, and are a lot slower.

      • Yep. Best to use it for files that won’t change a lot once added. Avoid running applications or putting files that will be updated a lot on it.

Storing photos, office docs etc will probably be fine but keep a backup somewhere (same applies to the internal drive!)

    • +1

Yes, I do this with my MacBook.

    • +1

Totally fine if you just need to give your main disk done breathing room by offloading media, but you won’t have a great experience running games or apps from it. It’s certainly not a replacement for good backups

  • +3

Wish I could buy a Steam Deck to put this in :(

    • Exactly my thoughts

    • Better replace the internal SSD instead. You’re spending similar price on a 1TB 2230 ssd to this card, but speed is night and day.

      • Why not both? I bought a 64gb steam deck and plan to do both.

  • +2

Thanks. Goes well in my iPod

    • iPod??

      • +3

        Yes

        • +2

          Dankpods reference?

  • +2

All the Hi-Res Audio for your DAP.

    • Exactly…then the current one in the DAP to the Switch >.<

  • +1

    Hey all,

Is this a worthwhile SD card for a Switch or am I better off getting a different card. I guess this is the cheapest we are going to get it right?

    • +1

You generally don’t need 1TB for switch games. You’d need to have downloaded hundreds of titles before you reach 1TB… I would recommend 256gb or 512gb instead, particularly because they’re much better value. Go buy another AAA switch game with the excess

      • +4

My 1tb Switch SD card only has like 50GB of space left 😬

      • +3

I use a 1TB card for my Switch, and I’ve filled up about half of it lol. For reference I have 170 software titles in my library, most of them digital.

        • +1

My 1tb in my switch is full ☹️ need a 2tb at a decent price!

          • @KRiSX: Which 1TB card are you guys using?

I've heard that the Sandisk Ultra isn't that great, thinking of cancelling

      • I have a 400gb in my switch with only 50gb left haha all thanks to tits pro IYKYK

        • Yes, Tits filled up 400GB micro SD within a couple of days. Still so many good games I can’t store ‘backups’ of.

This 1TB should do the trick though, and I’ll use the 400GB in my spare Vita.

          • @zaprct: Ah, good idea. I just bought this and I'll have a spare 512GB, I was wondering what to do with it. All my flash carts, other handhelds and MiSTer already have big cards in them. I'll stick the 512GB in my Vita, I think it only has a 256 in there :)

            I just checked and it has a 400GB. I guess I'll chuck that in a PSP :)

          • @zaprct: Is tits better than tinfoil or finding them online?

    • +3

Yes this card will do fine. You do not need fast write speeds to play games off a microsd card.

    • You talking modified switch?

  • For some reason amazon UK just refunded my order. They said they posted it on the 13th and sent me a tracking number but the tracking number doesn't work. I just got this message today-

"We’ve received the item below and have issued your refund. Thank you for sending the item back. Your return is now complete."

"Your package is being returned to Amazon for one of the following reasons: Damaged in-transit, carrier couldn't locate your address, or refused by the recipient."

I didn't even have a return request open.

    • I reckon I've had that once a year or so ago, probably from UK or US store too. Was even more annoying as it was the last in stock, though oddly it popped up as available not long after….
