Fair warning - this thing writes at around 1-3MB/s. This is slow for an 8GB drive and would be painful to regularly use moving 30+GB.

You would be better off with the 64GB verbatim for $35, in the earlier post from today.

I was getting around 12.5mb/sec from my 8GB Cruzer when I was copying a couple hundred 600kb files.

It's so hard to find the speed of this thing. Sandisk's website doesn't say, which is enough reason to avoid it. But I did find some independent speed tests ( http://usbspeed.nirsoft.net/?pdesc=SanDisk+Cruzer+Slice+USB+… ) with these results:

read: 18 MB/s
write: 4 MB/s

These speeds aren't bad. For 30GB of data it would take 30 minutes to read and 133 minutes to write, assuming it can sustain those speeds.

  Write times are pretty bad. I don't want to wait 2+ hours to copy 30GB.
