Damn, I would have loved the white ones!

    Couple of notes:
    - It's 17.5 hours total, not 20 (5.5 hrs + 12 hours from case)
    - I have a pair and quite like them, but absolutely wouldn't recommend them to many people. I like to cook with them so I can still hear things sizzling/chat to my partner without taking them out. Also good for safety - you can hear everything going on around you
    - Bass really isn't great. I knew it wasn't before I bought them, but bass is either very low or distorted, do not buy if you consider bass a must!
    - I really am still in awe of the driver design

    • I heard you have to run them at pretty high volume because of the open design. So I thought that 5.5 hour battery life may be reduced significantly.
What is your experience with the Linkbuds battery life from a single charge?

At least in my experience with a $50 set from Amazon which claimed 5 hours battery life from a single charge, I get around 2.5 hours because I have to keep the volume up. I don't know who is getting the claimed battery life but they must be listening to it at a whisper quiet volume level.

      • To be honest I haven't timed it, but I find that if I'm home all day using them intermittently for work (some music, some meetings, putting them down over lunch, etc) I can get through pretty much the whole day. Maybe 4-4:30ish I get the low battery warning? But that's in a quite quiet environment to be fair

I don't really have any concerns with the battery life more broadly. I wouldn't want to be listening to 5 hours of music straight at high volume, just as a personal preference

          Ok sure.
I use my $50 TWS to watch movies on the tablet, so I did notice when the battery life has gotten a bit worse recently.
When brand new I would get 2.5 hours at what I would call "moderate volume" before the low battery warning, any lower in volume and I would have trouble understanding dialogue. But recently that has dropped to around 2 hours and 10 mins, so I notice I get the low battery warning towards the end of some movies.

Just wanted to let others know, that with TWS earbuds the claimed battery life is more of a "best case scenario" than an accurate estimate since it highly depends on volume level. And I just suspected due to the open design of Linkbuds to block out ambient noise you would have to be running them at higher volume than comparable "isolating" TWS earbuds.
At least one review online did mention the need to have the Linkbuds at a higher volume compared to the average normal TWS.

          • @harshbdmmaster718: Ah yeah I understand that, the need to increase the volume for sound masking (rather than cancellation)

I feel like perhaps for the marketing spin they put on them the battery could have been more prioritised, with the idea being to keep them always in.

Again for me though, perfect solution for listening to music while doing things that need you to hear, without blasting music for everyone to hear

            • @AnonyL: You know what I realised, the TWS design really limits the size of the battery and therefore limits the battery life in between charges.

I noticed Bluetooth headphone products which still have the cable in between the buds overall have a larger battery and much superior battery life.

I know daily use can consist of taking earbuds in and out a few times, so some people will think putting them back in the case is not much hassle. You can probably tell this from the huge rise in popularity of TWS. But I would really prefer to only have to charge a single thing once a week and use it in between without being too conscious of charging it regularly.

Now here is where my problem comes in. I prefer earphones which are like the 1st generation Airpods, not the in-ear type. So now I am on the hunt for a pair that has that same design but with a cable in between and a long battery life. I have not done a proper search yet, but I suspect this design is not very popular.

              • @harshbdmmaster718: Have you considered bone conduction headphones?

                • @AnonyL: I have seen those but they leave your hearing open to the air like Linkbuds. I need some isolation like the amount that is given by 1st generation Airpods design.
