Personal Experience
I bought the Nuphy 75 after reading the review on rtings, there are plenty of review video on youtube as well.
The most comparable alternatives to the Nuphy 75 are likely Keychron K3 (version 2) and Logitech MX Mechanical Mini.
I have not seen the Logitech MX Mechanical Mini in person yet but it is a fair bit more expensive and not hot swappable, so doesn't fit what I need.
Comparing to Keychron K3, for me Nuphy 75's build quality is better, keycaps and chasis feel more premium.

Cons:
Battery life is around 2 days if you leave the backlight on the whole time. They claim you can stretch it to a week if you turn the light off but I haven't been able to achieve that.

They ship from China through freight-forwarder, I have seen people getting their orders in 2 weeks, however in my case, it took 10 days for it to arrive in Sydney but 6 weeks for their last mile courier to ship it from Sydney to Perth…… so be warned.

Are these any good compared to Keychron?

I had the K2 which I have passed onto my partner after getting this. I like this better than the K2.
For me, the build quality, keycaps and chassis of the Nuphy 75 feel more premium than the K2.
As this is a low profile board, pre-travel is shorter and you choice of switches are limited to Gateron low profile switches so be sure you are aware of that if you are planning on customising.

      • Did you get the case that comes with it? And if yes, has it been worth it for you?

        • I didn't get the folio, their shipping is weight based and the extra shipping killed it for me.

Good side it has usb wireless dongle
I hate it's lack of shine through keycap, that makes rgb blacklists a waste, also the hollow keycap click does not sound good

    • I wanted to get these too a couple of months ago and I decided not to because of the useless key backlighting lol

In the custom keyboard enthusiast community, there seems to be this rejection of shine through. Anything shine through is derided as "gamer". Then the north-facing (keycap interference) vs south-facing (poor shine through) matter came up, and most customs enthusiasts now devalue any keyboard with north-facing LEDs, to the detriment of anyone who prefers shine through.

So that's a warning if you're getting into custom keyboards and want shine through: Make sure they keyboard doesn't have south-facing LEDs.

Fair. It’s more of usability of the backlight when you need it most. That is making sure you’re pressing the right key in the dark. For practicality, there is really no point having light just around the keys come to think of it aside from aesthetics.

  • Shipping is $29.88 USD (~44.09 AUD) to Sydney

    • Did you include extras like keycaps and folio? Shipping is USD$19.96 for just the keyboard I think, probably more if you have add-ons etc. as I think it is weight based

      • Ah yes, the folio was what increased shipping. Thanks

  • Thanks for the heads up on this deal. I was waiting for the mx mechanical mini but there’s still no confirmed date when these will be available in Australia. I’m new to the world of mechanical keyboards so I thought the Logitech route would be the safest given it’s audience is the masses.

In reality - how often are people changing the switches?
That’s probably the key difference for me vs the mx mechanical and no shine through.

In reality - how often are people changing the switches?

Within the first month of me getting my K3 hot-swappable, I was on a different switch every week lol

But once things/mind settled down I'm sticking with brown switches, haven't changed for 1+ years. But that's just me, interested in mech keyboard but not super excited about it. I'm sure there are enthusiasts out there that are on a different switch every other day

I am mainly a tactile person but I use lubed linear switch for the spacebar and clicky in some special keys.
If you know what you want hot swappable is not necessary.

Changing switches isnt' the be all end all of hotswap. Often just having a hotswap will mean that you can disassemble the keyboard easier to modify. There are heaps of things people do like change the stabilizers for the bigger keys like the space bar and shift and enter keys. Apply thin lubricants to the switches which changes the sound and feel. And hotswap allows you to do all of that without a soldering iron.

If you don't think you'll be tinkering with it, then hotswap is not really an appreciable factor I guess. Also the fact that some switches just aren't sold on keyboards. Again, if you are the type of person who will be satisfied with reds, blues, browns or blacks, then it's probably not a factor. But say for example, if you really want to give the new small batch switch on the market a go, then the only option again, is assembling your own board, which hotswap can make easier.

Keyboard modders are basically like microbrew dudes, so if you're rolling your eyes reading all of this then that's totally fine and you'll probably be happy with something without the feature.

    • I changed my switches as soon as I received my new keyboard. My fav switch is the Gateron Milky yellow. They are so smooth and lubed from factory.

I had the K3 and found the Bluetooth unreliable and the keycaps felt cheap. Sounds like this is better but that battery life doesn't sound great. Still hanging out for the Logitech.

    • Yup - I’m in this same boat as I’m waiting for the Logitech mx mechanical but hot swappable keys for the nuphy has me interested even tho I couldn’t see myself tinkering with customisation.

I’ve already got the Logitech mx keys so thought to try out another brand for a bit of fun.

      • I think the MX keys mini would have been perfect but I can't do without the dedicated home, end, page up and down keys. Such a shame.

    • The logitech has ABS keycaps too, and the Nuphy battery > K3.

  • How is the typing experiencing with this veruses the K3? I'm deciding between the K3 or this one.
