Intel NUC M15 15.6" FHD i5-1135G7 16GB RAM 512GB SSD Laptop $997 + Delivery (Free C&C) @ Umart

130

Not as good as the previous bargain but for anyone who missed out, Umart has these Intel i5 laptops restocked for $997 - make sure you select the bundle to receive the AU power cord, too.

Seems like great value - about half the price of an Apple Macbook with similar RAM and storage (and design!). Has a great range of ports for decent connectivity options without adapters.

If you picked one up in the last sale, please share your experiences - would love to read some user reviews as I'm considering an upgrade for a decade-old Ultrabook!

Grab one. Typing this on the NUC M15 i7 touch version ($1,158) - beautiful machine and the screen is great. I replaced the supplied AC charging brick with a 100W charging cable and a compact 65W GaN charger - makes it more portable. Only con for me is the keyboard backlight turns off after 5 seconds and there's no way to modify it.

    • Is the Alexa integration bothersome? Can it be completely disabled?

      • +1

No, not at all. It only works if you have the Microsoft Store Alexa app installed and open. I installed it out of curiosity but quickly uninstalled it.

Cheers. Would’ve been nice to be able to use the light bar for applications other than Alexa, such as outlook notifications.

          • @OldSchoolHarry: Yeah, didn't think of that. A wasted opportunity

@WrightRightWriteRite Try updating the BIOS using the Intel Driver and Support assistant from Intel's website, I've got the same i7 version as you and I can change the keyboard backlight timeout in my unit after a update

Cheers, I'll give that a try

I bought one from mwave deal. It is amazing. Screen is very bright, system loafs wuick and it based on Intel evo specifications so very snappy and future proof in my opinion. And yeah, battery is really good too.

    • How is the thermal performance and fan behaviour?

  • +1

I only do web browsing with 5 6 tabs open, and few softwares running at a time never heard the fan at all. Don't know how it is under heavy load though.

    Outa stock

  • What about battery life. Can it last 8 hours during normal use?

    • According to the spec sheet:

73 Whr Battery (up to 16 hours of battery life - Local FHD Video Playback @150 nits) with fast charging support

        Thank you for your information.

The reason I ask because they are some review point out the battery life is very poor, only 4-5 hours
