    No NUC11's?

Found previous NUC11i7 was once in $600s.

NUC 11th Gen BNUC11TNHI70000 was $679 last year.

  • IMHO not a very good deal for a USFF with a two gen old CPU.
You can get a complete used Micro PC with an i7-8700T (which is just as fast if not slightly faster than a 10th gen i7 U CPU) 16GB of RAM and a 512SSD for little over $500 on eBay.
When you add 16GB and 512SSD to this NUC you are looking at around ~$800.

    • NUCs are a different beast to those Dells, they're tiny and bulletproof. The NUCs are also new and come with a 3 year manufacturers warranty, unlike a refurbed Dell

      • Micro PCs are not much larger than NUCs
        NUC : 117 x 112 x 51mm
Dell 7060 Micro PC: 182 x 178 x 36mm only 6.5cm longer and wider but 1.5cm thinner. They both are considered USFF and can be mounted behind a TV or a monitor, the thinner profile of the DELL may help fit it into tighter places.

Warranty is the only argument for this NUC, but I personally don’t think paying $300 (or 50%) more can be justified when you are getting 2 year old hardware with 4 year old performance.

I have used many used Dell,HP,Lenovo OEM PCs over the last 15 years, in my experience they are as bulletproof as PCs can get, IMHO a 30~90 day warranty is all you need with those.

        • After over 20 years in government IT so have I, they're generally pretty good but the chances of them falling over start increasing significantly once they're about 4 years old, especially if (like most desktops) they spent their entires lives powered up.

You'll get a lot more life out of a new NUC

  • There was a decent size jump from the NUC10 to a NUC11 performance wise. A NUC11 i5 (~$630) should be equal to or better than a NUC10 i7. Check cpubenchmark to prove what I am saying to yourselves. No deal on those NUC prices!

  • ha they dont even come with power cord!

  • would this be good for a HTPC?

    Intel BXNUC10I3FNHN- Mini PC kit i3 + 8GB RAM - $359

something that can handle 4K movies etc. I assume it will pass through ATMOS/DTSHD etc to the Receiver?

    • the integrated GPU wouldn't help much. I'd go for a nvidia shield pro over any NUC, be a lot cheaper. Has Atmos/DV and AI upscaling.

I used the 10i7FNH for a year or two - nice box, but the fan would go crazy at times in Windows.
Nice fast startup with one of the NVME drives that were on sale.
I'd say only buy if cheap, IIRC 8th gen to 10th gen had similar performance…

  • NUCs make good VMware esxi hosts for home labs.
