Looking for a Ridiculously Good Southern Style *HOT* Chicken

Ok, so I have pretty much given up finding a decent store bought southern chicken - wings, pieces, burger patty, or whole chook - none I have tried have been close to the real maccoy. Advertised HOT is mild at best and most are just flavourless coated chicken pieces.

If anyone knows a decent option, please point me in the right direction!!!

Do you mean like Nashville hot chicken? There isn't anything "real deal" here but closest in Sydney are:

I like Belles Hot Chicken. I'd probably also go so far as to say it's ridiculously good.
Hard to recommend without your location, but maybe if you're lucky enough there's one within range.

Their menu has 'Really F**kin Hot'.
This is probably what you're looking for.

    Good luck!

  • Thanks mate! Yeah sounds exactly what im looking for - but im in Brizzy. Will check them out though next time I am down.

You should hit reply when replying.

Yep… and copy and paste the same comment thanking people for their input. Seems efficient.

How are we meant to know you were thanking both at the same time? You said "mate" which sounds like thanking one person, and you said "them" which can still apply to just one chicken business.

@itunes: I mean… You just seem like a dick here

@csandoe: How has me thanking people descended into this… definitely some dicks on here mate.

Have you tried making your own? Plenty of recipes out there, you can make them as hot as you want.

Yeah, but its a messy, time consuming, and costly process. Not your every day ingredients. But probably the only way to get the decently spicy flavour and heat that seems to be missing up here.

The lazy man/women way would be to buy the coles/wools/aldi “fresh” southern chicken and add your own spice blend.
You’d probably need to experiment whether it was best to add your spice blend before baking, in the middle of baking it, or as soon as it’s finished baking.

WingShack has many locations across Sydney.
I'm ethnically from the sub-continent and eat spicy on the daily, and both myself and the parents are easily breaking a sweat eating the chicken.
Its bloody tasty too, and you will pay for the quality. Fav's are the Nashville burger and the tenders, and they a few 'southern' sides but would prefer the loaded fries/onion rings

  • Hot Chicken Project in Geelong.

Tegal takeouts Nashville chicken in supermarket freezer is pretty awesome if you don’t want to go out to eat

And it's 1/2 price ($7 for a kilo) at Woolworths this week.

  • Not sure where you are in Brisbane, but I will routinely visit Wing Fix in Coorparoo (Presumably their Newmarket location is good too).

Can't speak for their hottest wings, but their consistent quality is very high for their other flavours, would recommend.
