CRI >80 is nothing to write home about, I won’t buy anything that isn’t >90 now, the difference is so striking. And then of course there’s a whole rabbit hole to go down if you start caring about R9 as well…

    • What's r9 and why is cri >90 so good.

      • +1

CRI measures how similar the light is to ideal black body radiation, so an incandescent lamp has a value of 100. It basically intends to capture how natural the light looks. Often cheap bulbs have a green tint which corresponds to a low CRI. However, the CRI measure doesn’t include a strong red component, which is what R9 measures, also from 0 to 100. Many manufacturers don’t quote a CRI, let alone an R9. But it’s what can make two 2700k bulbs look totally different. IMO there’s a big difference going from >80 to >90 but diminishing returns after that. R9>30 is probably good enough too

    • What brand do you recommend?

      • I believe Yeelight 1S had CRI of ~95

      • To my knowledge the best ones easily available are the Ikea Tradfri 2700k bulb (704.100.65) for $15, or the Ikea Solhetta 4000k (505.099.82) at $9.50 for two. Those specific models are particularly good

@OP: you should consider reducing the shipping costs to below $4.95 for these bulb deals to be worthwhile Shipping @ $9.90 kills them (my opinion only).
