buyer beware. when you cancel free trials / memberships there is a 50% chance that they will just keep charging you, i and many others had this issue (google it and see how many results appear) and they do not have a refund policy, at least the last time i checked, for anyone outside the UK, so they just ignore you. i had to go the paypal dispute route, which they also ignored, so paypal gave me my money back.

      • what do you mean?

Is this a legit question? which streaming service?
Maybe you could refer to the post? I guess? I dont know, im confused too by your question?

    • That's why I use Amex, they just refund you any charges & hit the processor with a charge back fee.

    • Thanks for the warning.

You could use revolut disposable credit card and freeze the card to make sure you are not overcharged

      for scam call ?….

would have thought that's mostly from south-east Asia countries…XD

I would avoid tidal AT ALL COSTS.

They kept charging me for months even after cancelling.

    Hideous service.

Had same experience. Yes they are dodgy

      • Yikes, good to know. Better start cancelling for the end of the trial now.

Use paypal if you can. But yes cancel early. Or try the Amazon 3 months free offer as well

          • @Raj09: Cancelled and cancelled in my paypal payments too

I was using them before but they are dodgy with the cancellation. Got out and I'm with Amazon hi-fi now. Mqa is a sham. They are not lossless and they are effectively upsampling everything.

  • Music-wise, how does Tidal compare to AppleMusic (which suits my tastes)?

    • Appple musi has HIFI audio now and better catalogue, playlists and interface so its a no brainer

    • Tidal isn't even 'that bad' and has a decent algorithm for recommendations - although apple music is much cheaper and has hih res alac and none of that FLAC garbage.

Tidal is great if you own a Tesla as you can access the app natively from the infotainment unit, which is why I setup an Argentianian account last year for $2-$3/month. Beats Bluetoothing Apple Music from your smartphone

  • Been using this for free for 2 years its included on my letsbemates simcard plan.. not much music library, not much playlist, spotifiy or youtube music better

For Hi-Res streaming, Tidal is best. Beware of pretenders.

Been trialling Tidal (which how I get my Hi_Res fix) for yonks and never had any issues cancelling when the trial is up.

    Maybe just been lucky?

BTW OP thanks. Timely post. Been cravin' for some heavenly Hi-Res streaming lately.

Quobuz sounds better to me , but yes, Tidal close second with YT Music almost as good, Deezer was poor, YMMV

      • Does Quobuz gives out generous trials like Tidal periodically does? Also, does Quobuz do MQA, 360, or Atmos formats?

        • Yes they do, but perhaps not as often as Tidal. I got a 3 month free signup from Quboz.

I personally feel YTMusic recommendation algorithm to be way better for me (much better than Spotify, Tidal and Apple Music) but YTMusic streaming quality absolutely sucks

        • Been using YTMusic as of late and am too liking its recommendations. Methinks the streaming isn't so bad which is a surprise. Could depend on the headphones/iems?

Tried Amazon Music and somehow that didn't do anything for me.

I moved from Tidal to Qobuz recently. Qobuz has buckets of genuine lossless hi-res and the library has been fine for me so far. Whatever your opinion of Tidal's MQA, it is only relevant if you have equipment capable of decoding it, which a lot of people will not.

Running through my BluOS app, Tidal responded faster than Quboz, but that has recently massively improved and now isn't an issue anymore. I don't know if that was due to the app or Quboz itself.

Qobuz library is better than Amazon Music, at least for the stuff I listen to.

Curated lists seem about the same between the two. I don't use them much, but both have seemed fine when I have. Different but same.
