Optus Data SIMs - 2 Factor Authentication

Hi bargainers,

I had to activate an Optus Data SIM today and ACMA have made the Telcos add 2 factor authentication as part of the activation process online. The only problem is unless you have an Optus account you cannot get the code sent to you, so you have to go through the process via chat which takes at least 20 mins.
The problem is there are 2 options to get the code:
1. via mobile
2. via email

The mobile option sent the code to a mobile number that wasn't mine, and not to the new number allocated through the activation process.

The email option failed to work even though it had my address. Plus how do you check your email online when you have no internet?

I never set up an Optus account because I use the 40GB data SIMs each 4 weeks, and I thought if I had an account it'd stop me after three recharges.

Anyone else having problems?

    How do you post on OZB with no internet.

  • I remembered I do have an Optus account, so I logged in to check the profile details.
    For some reason the mobile number was some unknown number, so I updated with my mobile number,
    so this should mean next time the 2 factor code will be sent to my phone.
