  • Do these offer surge protection?

    • No

    • Hey mate, I was wondering the same thing and went to check Cygnett's manual: https://support.cygnett.com/hc/en-us/articles/360026507013-S…

I believe they call it Overload Protection System (OPS), not sure if this is what you're after in your use case ;)

      • +1

Overload protection would be a circuit breaker to prevent attached devices from drawing too much current, potentially causing the smart plug to overheat and start a fire.

Surge protection would protect devices attached to the smart plug from voltage spikes in the electrical supply.

I can't see a reference to either overload protection or surge protection in the Cygnett smart plug manual.

        • Cheers mate, thank you for clarifying. learn new things !

    Price in the title please

Have 1 that works perfectly and 2 that are flakey. Wouldn't buy them again.

    • I had the same issue, turns out I had to update firmware and then perfect.

I have 6 and they all work great. This price is not amazing, big w have the 50% off every 3-6 months.

    Terrible reviews on Amazon:

Yeah these are pretty damn hard to setup on Android… I had to use an iPhone and their native iOS software to pair it to my Cygnett account, but after mine's worked okay

I tried numerous times to register an account for these and never got the email across multiple accounts and days. Gave up and returned them. They are also much bulkier than they look in photos.

This one is good in the sense it (or the app) stores and allows you to download data in csv format.

  • We use the Mirabella WiFi Plug with Monitoring from Kmart, which is $25. Never had a problem with it. was really easy to connect initially and if we lose power it reconnects straight away when power comes back on.

    • No HomeKit though (natively)

  • I'm using a couple of these Cygnett smart plugs with HomeKit. I paid ~$18 each for them. They work ok to turn devices on and off, but I couldn't get the Cygnett app to work at all, so I haven't used the power monitoring feature.

I haven't tried the Meross plugs, but they're currently $22.09 using a 15% off voucher, with free postage if you have Prime. There's also a 15% voucher for the two-pack, and a $10 voucher for the four-pack, which should make the unit price even less.

  • Spent 1 hour trying to connect to this. Does not detect… tplink works great since 3 years!
