Welcome to a Higher Intelligence

Limitless human imagination—that’s the inspiration for the HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro. The breakthroughs in technology will blur the lines between what you can dream and what you can do.

Frame the World

An iconic square combining Leica Triple Camera and one flash inherits the Mate series’ central and simple camera design concept to create an aesthetic signature. See through the window, explore the world.

Natural Masterpiece

A forged masterpiece of 3D glass with smooth curves and seams that dissolve into the design. A streamlined symphony in the palm of your hand.

Capture the Light

A tribute to nature’s rich colors, HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro is available in four vibrant colors. Light reflects beautifully off the back of midnight blue and emerald green making the unique Hyper Optical Patterns glitter. A special glass texture which is non-slip and anti-fingerprint.

Balance in Art

Like all works of art, HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro’s lines and features are symmetrically in harmony. A slim design makes the phone size a pleasure to look at and touch.

The World is Your Playground

Life is about exploring. Take your HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro for fun to the beach or through the rain. The IP68 rated water and dust resistance means no worry of taking spills, splashes, and dunks.

  • The World is Your Playground

Thought it was supposed to be Google Play.

    • +10

      This has Google Play.

    • what?

  • +4

    Released in October 2018

  • Should be around $200, also planned rollout of Emui12 has has been cancelled due to the new 12 huawei os having issue's with Google pay and calendar. Same outcome for P30 pro.

    • +13

Thats not true. I am still using this phone and i am on Emui 12

Its still a great phone, great battery life and speed.

Have never had a phone (android) that lasts this long for me - usually battery or speed degrades to the point where it forces me to upgrade. With this phone i dont get that.

      • +2

Spoke to tech support this week. Was advised no emui12 for P30 pro. I shouldn't of presumed the same for mate 20 pro. Would be keen to know if any p30 pro users have emui12 running.

        • +1

On P30 pro, still on EMUI 11.
Doesn't bother me much and hardly notice any slow down.

          Great phone for its age.

          • @ja912son: Yep. I just "upgraded" my P30 because its battery had noticeably degraded since I first bought it, it was more difficult to charge, and it was starting to slow down.

I purchased a Galaxy S21 FE which I am quite dissatisfied with. The battery life is no better than my 3 year old P30 (in fact I think it is worse). The phone functions quite well but it is sluggish whenever I search for an app in the app drawer (I don't want to scroll through each stupid page of apps. The app drawer on my P30 was so much easier to use).

      • +3

Same here my Samsung's always die just after warranty and the battery are always shagged, my Mate 20 still on 11 do you have a P30 with 12 or Mate 20 Pro on 12 bit confused

        • Same love my mate 20, still going strong but yeah still on 11 not sure how they got there's to 12.

          • +2

@waderr: Mine is definitely a mate 20 pro. Model LYA-L29. I updated maybe 3 weeks ago on Boost network

        • +2

I'm also with a P30 Pro. 3 years old. EMUI11. I don't know what a new EMUI verion could bring. A newer version doesn't mean a better user experience. One example is the volume up/down button, earlier when I held the button, the phone allowed me to choose which type of volume (ringtone, media,…) to change. Some update last year changed that behaviour, which now requires me a few more clicks to do the same thing.

In term of battery: I just switched to an S22 Ultra - its battery is just as good as my 3yo P30Pro :-(

I also heard that Huawei provides low cost for battery replacement, does Samsung have the same?

          Thanks

          • +3

@Averell: I know Huawei had a deal $59 for phone battery and $99 for laptops a couple months ago only downside is you ship to them (free shipping) as they only have one service centre in Sydney I think

            • @solidussnake: Do you know whether they provide any other services?
I once left my phone in sea water for about 15 minutes, and didn't wash it properly after that. Since then the mics quality deteriorated and I got complaints about my voice quality all the time.
              Thanks

              • +2

@Averell: Go into My Huawei app > Support, choose check up and let it run the test. Or try More Repairs and send it to them ?

                • @solidussnake: When it was still under warranty, I talked to them and they asked me to try that test. As the problem was with the deteriorated quality of the mics only, the test couldn't detect anything wrong.

          • +3

@Averell: To be fair i liked Emui 11 better than 12. So you are not wrong there

        • +1

Just update my Mate20 pro LYA-L09 to Samsung S22 Ultra. Can't feel significant life changing different. The old Mate20 pro still running very strong and fast. Beyond expect ation.

        • +2

I am still using P30, roughly 3.5 years old now, P30 is still on Emui 11
bought a new Samsung S22 last month, no significant difference in battery or performance… so might give the S22 to my dad, dad deserves a new phone :)

          • @lhou021: I guess moving from P30 to S22 would be like taking a step back.
I moved from P30Pro to S22U. Saw no difference at all.

    • Wrong info right here.

      • My M20P is on EMUI12 :)
        OTA update.

Grade B is the new fancy word for refurbished!

Welcome to a Higher Surveillance by Intelligence Agencies

    FTFY

  • +9

Still using this phone paid $600 new from dirty HN for it and it had the extra year free warranty promo afterwards, battery still almost 1.5 days camera is fantastic and CPU is fast and snappy, although B grade would be pretty average and getting a good screen protector is almost impossible due to the curved screen I'm using mine without one and it holds up pretty well

  • +2

Solid phone. Still got thia 😷💪🏿

  • -1

Just picked up a used Pixel 5 in mint condition for $300, so I think you can do a lot better than this for $300 if you are patient and look around.

    • +1

Was that through a business or just on market place ? These guys will apparently give you 6 months warranty if anything happens..

    • I'd pay 350 for a mint condition pixel 5. Where did you get yours?

      • Just on FB Marketplace, got a bit lucky maybe. They seem to be going for $450 minimum for ones in good condition, so very happy to get mine for $300, with original box, charger and as new condition, battery at 95% health too :)

        • +1

How do you check the battery to get that 95% number?

          • @Averell: Good question. Would like to know too. I also would love to get a Pixel 5 for $300. Great buy you got there.

          • +1

@Averell: App called AccuBattery. I have been using it for years, works very well, but need to do several charge/discharge cycles to get better accuracy. Some of the info is a bit technical, but perfect for me as I am an Engineer ( love tech detail :)

  • Dang, I've been wanting to purchase the Huawei Mate 20 X, but cheapest I could find was on Aliexpress for around $800 including tax.

    • Yeah I'd love one too but getting a bit old now.

  • +8

Still using my mate 10 pro. Best phone I've ever had

    • +2

I've moved on from mine, but it's still the best phone I've ever had.

  • +4

    Absolutely fantastic phone.
It may be old but it is very fast, super fast charging, solid battery and the screen is great. All I need.
Unlike every bloated Samsung I've owned which is great for 6 months then slow as hell with a terrible battery.
    Lya29 here with emui12

    • Totally agreed. Hated going back to Samsung but sadly, a few of the software I required for work have only been trial tested on a Samsung.. so was recommended to get a Samsung.

  • +1

One of the best phone I've ever had along with Oppo X2 Pro. Got S21 PLUS and now Pixel 6 Pro but still I'm using the Oppo.

  • +2

Huawei products were so innovative especially in design and camera

    • +2

I still dont feel the need to upgrade my P30 Pro. Considering I need to shell out 1.5K+ for similar zoom camera.

      • Got S22U last week for $999. Zoom is a bit better (3x and 10x, vs 5x on P30P). But it's bulkier

        • Was it on the Amazon deal?

          • @John Doh: Yes, had JB Hi-fi price matched with the Prime Day deal

  • -7

OK I suppose .. if you want your personal info sent to China .. 😱😂.!! Huawei is increasingly PNG in the Western World .. !!

    https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-07-22/us-probes-chinese-hua….

    • +3

How's that any different to Apple, Facebook, Google to name a few ?

      • -3

Lets see .. after nobody, would you prefer to share your personal data with Russia, China or the USA??

        • +3

R u ScoMo? Why would they even give you a s**t?

        • They all have it because every company you use sells your data.

    • Tiktok, didi and aliexpress also have sketchy data management. As well as many other tencent powered games. I see no difference

  • +1

Still using one which hits it's 3rd bday next month. Can't recommend enough really!

Oh and the battery still handles a full day of heavy use.

  • So to confirm…no Google services right?

    • I think it has

    • +1

It has full google services, I think p40 onwards has no play store access

      • +2

Ya, P30 and Mate 20 were the last highend devices to get google support.

  • +1

Such a great phone! Love Huawei.

  • +1

Absolutely agree. My mate 20 pro has been very solid until it got water damaged last week. Everything still works well, except the screen flashing bright green. Phone repair shop quote me $550 to fix it, which I think very ridiculous.

Heck even Trump and Biden need to resort to dirty sanctions trick to put brake on Huawei's growth

    • +2

Ya, they were scared more data will goto China as opposed to USA.

  • -4

Love the comments "Its still going great….", "Android 11 don't border me….", "Samsung is….." …..etc🤣🤣🤣

    First the facts part,

None of the Huawai is getting Android 12, which 2019 Samsung S10 is. Also security update is not very frequent.

EMUI is fast and sleek, and battery life looks good after all these years but now One Ui 4 is king. Oh experience Samsung user know they should lodge a warranty claim to at least change the battery before warranty runs out. If you don't, that is your lost.

Grade B 5 years old phone worth max $100. Good luck for Phonebot selling these.

    • -2

Chinese spyware phone would need to pay me $100 to use it wrapped in aluminium foil

      • couldn't agree more!!

  • I bought a grade b 256gb mate 20 pro, now seems to be out of stock. Operating system is harmony OS and cannot be rolled back to android. I think it may be a chinese refurb as the software is all in Chinese as is the feed and doesn't change when language is set to English. Can't use or download Google maps and other Google apps. Have to return it as I can't use it with this os.
