Humble Bundle V - Pay What You Want

2620

Don't usually think the humble bundles are that ground breaking, but today's one is exceptional

Bastion ( pay average)
Amnesia- Dark Descent
Limbo
Psychonauts
Superbrothers

Additional information and sales pitch from MarrkDaviid. I credit him as co-contributor for his time and effort where I was too lazy.

Pay whatever you want, as low as $0.01 for 4 games + 4 soundtracks (FLAC and MP3)!!

Pay more than $1 (which you will, unless you are a tight arse) and you will be given a key for the games on Steam!!

Pay more than the average price paid (currently $6.66) and you will receive an additional game and soundtrack!!

Choose how much of the money goes to the developer, the charities and Humble Bundle!

Now for the BEST PART!! All of the games are cross platform, and run on Mac OS X, Windows and Linux!!

The games and soundtracks that you can receive for as low as $0.01:

Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Psychonauts
LIMBO
Superbrothers: Sword & Sorcery EP

The additional game and soundtrack you will receive, if you pay more than the average paid:

Bastion

This Humble Bundle is apparently worth $110, so I would jump on this opportunity if I was you! I have heard a lot of good things about "Amnesia: The Dark Descent" since it was released, and the other games look pretty cool too, I am willing to spend $7 on the bundle.

You can 'add' to your current purchase - no need to buy it again.
(the confirm email for your order has a link to do this)

I did that when they added HB1 to HB2 as a bonus.

  • I paid $10. I'd happily pay more to have a copy of Psychonauts tyat I can access anywhere, anytime for the rest of my life. Oh the other games look cool too.

    Thanks great bundle bought $6

I rarely get time to play these great indie games. Donated $15 anyways. Good eye candy for the 1 min trailer for me will do.

Paid $8…Feeling happy that in some way I can support the developers and charity as well..This is my second bundle..Keep the games and bundles coming :)

  • Does anyone know if the Bastion in the bundle includes the Stranger’s Dream DLC?

  • I've already paid yet didn't pay enough to unlock Bastion. Can you pay the remaining amount to unlock it?

    • Yep that's what I did - topped up my payment (from the unique humble link page with your download links) to beat the average after originally purchasing and bastion appears. Played it for half an hour or so, good game so far

  • Can someone explain to me if I can download Bastion, if not all of them, onto the 3 or 4 computers in my house?

I understand I can connect each game to a steam account, but they will be locked to that account for life, and only 1 person can play at one time? If I connect the games to a steam account, will the games I downloaded stop working?

Is it safe to say the download link will still work for me in 1 year? 10 years?

How many times can I download the games?

I would appreciate any input, Thanks in advance! :)

Steam activation is a separate bonus feature. You also have the option to download the game directly from them with no DRM, meaning you can have it running on as many computers as you like. Steam is mainly for convenience.

  • i dont know about you guys but the amnesia music is scary enough… although very well created.

    • It is! The atmosphere of the game is very well created. Still on the first part of the game, and its giving me headaches though, mainly cause 3/4 of the game was played upside down!

  • I have received the steam key, but I would like to download the games and burn them to DVDs to avoid doenloading multiple times to play on my laptops and pcs. How to get the links?

    • Check your email, you should have been sent a unique URL that looks like this:
      https://www.humblebundle.com/?key=xxxxxxxxxxxx

In fact, you should have already been there since that's also where you get your Steam keys. From there, just choose a platform, and click "Download" next to each of the titles.

      • Actually, I chose the gift option which revealed the steam key, but I cannot find any download links from Steam only install option.

        • As Gilbarc mentioned all purchases come with both steam keys and direct download options.

Have a look for the website link if you wish to download the installer.

If you intend to use steam however and backup the steam version, install the app via steam and go to the install directory …/steamapps/ and locate your games there to back up

        • Finally, received the email which leads the the direct download page. Also, surprised to received bonus andriod games that also run on windows!

        • Did you get access to the Android Bundle or something?

        • yes.

        • how did you get access to the android bundle? is that a bonus to this humble bundle? or did you buy the android bundle, and just didn't realise the android bundle came with the steam keys?

If anyone doesn't want their kids getting freaked out by Amnesia, just make them a non-administrator ("standard" in windows speak) account and then set the permissions for the folder where the game is stored so that they can't see it's contents.

You have to login as administrator and set it so the appropriate user can't access the folder - right click on it and then click Properties -> Security -> Edit - then click Add, add their username and tick all the "deny" boxes.

Works great for me on Windows. Should work in a very similar way on Mac and Linux (I believe these games should run through Wine on Linux).

    • Wine? There's a native Linux version of each of the games. No need to muck about with wine and the windows versions.

      • Yep, my bad. Realised after I posted but couldn't edit as later posts had been put up. I was thinking of steam games running through Wine, which many do (and apparently the "Linux" version of Limbo runs through Wine with or without Steam). Linux should still be able to do a similar permission based parental control with or without Steam.

    • While explaining this to someone else I realised I should clarify that in my case the folder location for most games is "E:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common{gamename}" and "E:\Games\Steam\steamapps{steam username}{gamename}" for some of the steam engine related games (Portal, Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2, Codename Gordon).

Obviously your Steam folder isn't likely to be in the same spot as mine. Just find your main Steam folder and the folder locations for you should be "{Steam folder}\steamapps\common{gamename}" and "{Steam folder}\steamapps{steam username}{gamename}". This might vary slightly on Mac and I imagine Linux versions of Steam will have this inside your Wine profile folder (until the upcoming Linux version of Steam comes out soon).

  • I'm so sad that Baston or Limbo won't run on my PC!

  • Great bundle. I saw Limbo for 3.99 on steam and passed it up, glad I did.

  • Such awesome games. Can't wait to be terrified by amnesia (or have i already been???)

  • Now over $3 Million dollars in sales. Best Bundle Ever.

    • I saw one of these "other" bundles recently totalled around $2,000 in sales (I think it may have been the strategy-focussed one).

There's the best, then there's the rest. And the biggest payment to Humble Bundle V was more than the other one raised in total.

  • Now includes Braid, Lone Survivor and Super Meat Boy! (Beat the average)

Holy crap! This is the greatest bundle of all time - without a doubt!

  • Now over $4 million raised from the Humble Bundle
