Sony A7 III or Sony A7C

Hey guys, currently looking for a new camera mainly the Sony A7 iii or Sony A7c. Saw them earlier in the year at around 2000 new for body only each. But now there’s like nothing…. So just wondering where could I look (Google and prices are very scarily high) and when should I look. If there’s any deals for theses out there new for around $2000 it will be great!!

I got a Sony a7c in the last deal just above $2k for body.

Note that Sony has stopped production temporarily due to shortages of chips.

However, no idea when they would go on sale/clearance.

Recommend trying it irl in store or friend's first as it's very compact and doesn't fit nice in hand for everyone. I love the size though in my hand and the compactness as I use prime lenses only. Very easy to take it around

    • Ah that is so annoying!!! You got just in time haha.

      • Yeh, was very fortunate since I've been wanting to upgrade from Canon 500D but told my wife I will wait for our first baby. When she found out she was pregnant, she told me to go get the camera and deal came up soon after

I don’t think there will be a right price for a while ( at least 12 month)

    • That is a very big shame :( Would you attribute that to the chip shortage as stated above?

If you use AF and tracking AF, then get the A7C (it's much better than the A7iii)!

If you have big hands, get the A7iii (the A7C is smaller, and with big hands it can be painful to hold)!

If your eyesight is going and you use viewfinders, get the A7iii (the A7C viewfinder has less magnification and can a pain to focus through)!

If battery life is a concern, get the A7C!

If weight is a concern, get the A7C!

If you plan to use it for vlogging, or where you need to see framing from in front of the camera, get the A7C (no flippy screen on the A7iii)!

If you plan to record long videos, chose the A7C (the A7iii has a 30min record limit)!

If you need SD card redundancy, then chose A7iii (ie some people go on holiday and keep everything on SDCard - for data redundancy, the A7iii has two slots that can be used as backup)!

Have used a heap of different camera gear, if there is anything specific you want to know, hit me up :P

    • Cheers mate! Yeah I think I might settle on a used A7iii with one broken SD card slot for $900. Would like to talk it over with you if you have the time!

      • I would be concerned how they busted the SD slot, most likely from a drop (which will have far more consequences than just the obvious broken card slot)! Drops can affect the internals, the gyros, the mount locking and detection, etc :/

  • @kanekasem deal for Sony A7C
